My biggest temptation to date

Well, since I've been on my liquid fast for 11 days now, I've had a couple of difficult temptations to cheat, but I haven't so far. Well I had my most difficult challenge thus far this evening.  My Mom made homeade chicken salad for my Dad this weekend and there was a bowl in the fridge for my Daughter. She wanted it for dinner this evening and while she was taking her shower I prepared her meal.  Scooping out the chicken salad had my mouth watering and I was invisioning myself diving into that bowl and licking it clean. It was SOOOOOO hard not to even lick the fork and get a taste of them mayonase. I swear I actually felt pain when I replaced the cling wrap back over the bowl and stuck it back in the fridge. I still can't believe I resisted! I'm very proud indeed. :D It's quite ironic in that my intire family gathered at my sister's new house for pizza and desert away from me so I wouldn't be tempted and I could have probably resisted the pizza much more easily.

Holley you should really give yourself a big pat on the back.

I can imagine you and the devil and angel thing going on in your head.

Maybe you should treat yourself to something you really like to collect or a new DVD.

It is great that you are doing so well... because let me tell you this... when you have your wls, you just CANT eat what you crave.  So developing those controls now will greatly help you out.  Afterwards, the smell of food makes me want to hurl so temptation has not been too awfully bad.   Good for you!!!

Hey Holley - You should be very proud of yourself. I am still pre-op but am trying to lose more weight on my own before surgery. We all know how our mind has gotten us into the trouble we're in, so you did good! LOL And Annie? You think like me. LOL Shopping is my answer to alot of things. LOL Mare

Way to go!  This is awesome! Think back on how tuff it was AND how good you feel overcoming.  Get that memory solid in your mind.  Then each time you're tested, stop, close your eyes, and relive the experience.  Bet it will help you get over the hump a bunch!

Holley -

As you know the surgery gives us the tool, but learning to use it and change our eating habits is probably the biggest part of this journey. I know that I have temptations all the time. Recognizing the triggers and managing them is what's important.

It sounds like you are doing a great job. Keep up the good work.

Barb

P.S. Doing this before surgery will probably help you post surgery. Head hunger is a powerful beast, but it's one we can tame!

Congratulations to you Holley for being a strong woman and making the right choices. I know how hard it is to stay away from a food that you are not suppose to have. I think you deserve a treat for yourself!!! Go get a nice pedicure or go get new bath stuff or a new dvd you want. I used to treat myself with candy but now I try to go out and get a new movie or get my hair done ect for a healthier treat!! again WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!
