Hi everyone, I am brand new to Obesity Help tonight. I am here to learn as much as I can about treating morbid obesity and, possibly, having the surgery myself. I am in nursing school studying to be a mental health RN. Its real important to me to do something about my weight now before I am working. I have three more years on my degree so its now or never I guess.  I am 5 feet 3 inches and weigh 280 pounds. I do have a long way to go!   I am living in eastern North Carolina. My mother's side of the family can be traced back to then original settlers. The history of this coastal town is pretty amazing.... and its only 35 miles from the beach!  My fiance Bob and I are getting married next May 08. I truly want to enter our married life healthier and with stamina to do all we dream of doing in life. My beau is fully supportive of my weight loss goals. I know he loves me  'as is' but wants me arund a long time to come.  Its nice to meet everyone here. I look forward to learning so much from you all Marcianne

Hi Marcianne - Welcome! I think you will find alot of useful information here, as well as meeting some of the most wonderful, caring & supportive people you could possibly hope to. Without this site and these people, this journey would feel awfully lonesome. "Thanks again, you all!" :O) Mary Ann

Marcianne - Welcome! You've come to the right place for support...everyone here is WONDERFUL!

I think you are very wise to be looking into WLS for your health and longevity...and to get all that you can out of that degree! LOL Congratulations on your upcoming marriage! Ahhh...the married life! 18yrs and counting here. I wish you much happiness! Your family history sounds like it would be an interesting read. Your lucky to know so much about your family!

There is going to be a Get Together at Sheila's on July 28th. Maybe you can come over and meet a bunch of us?! We have a group of us coming for a weekend at The Beach....soooo looking forward to that! Keep on post'n!

Welcome to the boards Marcianne!  I love Washington, we live in Greenville/Winterville, and go there frequently to visit.  Feel free to email me if you ever want to talk about doctors in the Greenville area.  I admit, I'm partial to Dr. Chapman. Take care and good luck with your search. Ellen

Own it all, it's yours!

HI everyone *****sponded to me! What a warm welcome.  I am in New Bern now. I have updated info on my profi;e plus "my story" just for fun. I have never written alot of it out before now. It was a good therapy tool.  Take a look at it if y'all are interested.  It'll either spark your interest or put you to cure insomnia. LOL! I'll be in frequently thats for sure. Thanks for the invites. I go to Jacksonville alot but have a conflict though.... lata dudes and dudettes Marcianne

Hi Marcianne.  I am also new here.  My sister has been a member for sometime, though.  I am also going to start a new career soon(elementary school teacher) but it will be sometime before I can have the surgery...probably this time next year.  I know also that I will need to become healthier to move forward in my career.  Welcome and I hope we both learn a lot here!
