doing better

Thank you all for listening to me rambling seems like alot has been going on with me but I do feel better this morning. My blood sugar was 80 this morning and to me that is fantastic. I am even doing a load of laundry this morning. Still on the pills that take me to looney land but I am functioning the best I can. Going to the physcial therapist this evening and I told them about my surgery and they seem more than willing to help me get back on my feet. Also I saw a post Amy Williams from OH posted about a man who was having a lap band surgery and he passed away from a clot to the brain. This is sorta freaking me out here but I keep telling myself I am having a vena cava filter put in the day before surgery which helps gaurd against things like this. Any advice from post ops would be good.                                                                          Annie

Hey Annie!  Glad to hear that you are feeling better.  The gentleman who passed away had had the blood clot lay dormant for a while from what I am understanding.  I had corresponded with him on the July surgery board as we had our surgeries on the same day.  I was very saddened to hear of his passing ~ he was a very sweet person.  However, you can't think negatively regarding your own surgery.  I know it is scary to read about stuff like this but if you go into your experience with nothing but a positive mind set, then you will only get positive results.  That is my opinion anyway!  LOL!!  Hang in there and try not to dwell on what might happen.  Shoot, we could die from a fall just getting out of bed every morning, ya know???  Don't worry ~ you are going to do great!! Hugs, Donna

Donna, Where do you add your ticker and signature to your replies? I found the site and made one, I just can't figure out how to add it to the site. Hope you're doing well... -Chareen

Annie, I bet that did freak you out about the gentleman who passed away after lap band. I am glad I am hearing it today, rather than yesterday. I have received some great advice here on the net regarding resting, but also keeping hydrated and active. Even if it is walking around your house and keep the blood flowing, you gotta move. You will be fine and will definatley be in my thoughts and prayers on Aug 1st (which is my wedding anniversary). Take care and keep up the great work monitoring those blood sugars! -Chareen

Annie, The more I think about this, the more I think it just may have been this man's time. My friend is a psychiatrist and her partner was having group therapy when one of her patient's had a seizure and died, right in the middle of therapy! Please don't stress about this. You are gonna do fine.  -Chareen

Thanks Chareen for your insight. I just got back from physical therapy and they gave me some excersises to do to help my back. You wont belive it but when I got ready to leave for my appointment I could not find my dentures. I convinced myself they got thrown out in the trash. My friend who took me to PT said lets go home and look in the trash can in the living room well sure enough there they were OMG I was blaming the looney pills on me loosing them LOL I wonder if other pre ops go through crazy stuff.                                              Annie
