Does anyone know ????

well just a question for anyone that might know. i have to take this class and it says $200.00 omg that is alot of money. is there anyway that inserance payys for this. or somthing. what is someone doesnt have that extra money for that .  thanks Donna-marie

I don't know what insurance you have, but  mine wouldn't pay it. Things like seminar fees and the nutritionist appointment came out of pocket. You can always call your insurance company and ask if they cover 'blah, blah, blah'. More than a few of us have kept the phone lines hot! Good luck and I hope you find the answer soon. Hugs

I did not go through the presby bariatric center.  I had my pcp write a direct referal and I called and made my appointment myself.  I didn't pay the $200 fee at all.

I was the same... referral from PCP straight to Dr. Lowe and I didn't have to attend the Presby seminar, but I had already been to the one at Duke. I've been lucky and only paid my co-pays and nutritionist.

If the office would code it as a visit the insurance companies would pay for it.  I went through that with Southern Surgical in Greenville, NC and they put it on the checkout sheet so there was no way I could file it with my insurance.  Found out when I switched to ECU Physicians and Dr. Chapman, they don't charge for a class.  Boy, did I wish I had known that when I started this journey!

Not all doctors charge an upfront fee.  Dr. Chapman at ECU doesn't, he isn't the only one.  If the cost is prohibitive, then maybe you can look around to see if there are any that don't.  Good luck. Take care. Ellen
