falling apart before surgery

I feel like I am falling apart here. For 3 days I have had a horrible time with my sciatic nerve in my leg it is killing me. I must of pulled it at Curves. Went to a chiropractor yesterday and did not get much relief. Saw my Doctor was going to have a cortisone shot but she could not give me one because I am diabetic.

She did give me some muscle relaxers and pain meds and said to keep moving ,easier said than done. I told her I have to be able to walk after surgery and she assured me I would be ready On a bright side I have lost 8lbs since I saw her two weeks ago. My sugar is well controlled and I gave her a copy of my levels and isulin unites I have been very good about recording. So it looks like I am down 16lbs since March. This gives me hope that I will be sucssesful with wls. When I set my mind to something I try to stick with it.                                                            Annie

Hi Annie, Sorry to hear you are in pain.  I bet a lot of that is also related to stress.  Try taking a nice hot bath and really soaking in it for a good long time.  Maybe followed by a nap! Hope you feel better soon! I don't remember you gettign a surgery date... when did that happen?  CONGRATULATIONS! Suzanne

You might find some releif from Icing down your back then use a heating pad. I can sympathize I have bad back problems.  Sadly, there's no miracle fix to fix it. Stretching helps too. Good luck and congrats on your upcoming surgery.

So sorry you're in pain Annie.  Sciatic nerves hurt.  I hope you get better soon.  I didn't realize you had a date either, congratulations! I haven't forgotten about the robe, I just didn't have time to send it before we left for vacation.  It's on my to-do list for tomorrow.  I'll let you know when it goes out.  I guess it better be soon, your surgery is right around the corner. Take care. Ellen

My husband and I were in Target tonight and I started having similar pain. All I could think was "I can't wait to lose weight so I don't have so much hip, back and leg pain". The hot tub sounds very therapeutic. I second the ice/heat treatment too. Take care of yourself and don't over do it! Great job with the 16# weight loss!!! -Chareen

Hang in there, Annie.  You don't have much longer until surgery, so make that a positive focus toblock the pain. That and the 16 pounds you lost and shared with me.  I hope the pain eases off quickly. You're in my thoughts. Hugs

Hang in there Annie.  Once the weight starts coming off I'm sure your pain will improve.  Try not to stress too much about the walking after surgery.  Yes, it is important but I know that you will do what you have to do to make your surgery successful.  Things will improve.  Everyone has given you good advice. I'm keeping you in my prayers! Hugs, Donna Great job on losing the 16 lbs!!!!
