Candice is doing well!

Hi All -

Candice is recovering well. She's been up walking laps ... and she says that getting up and down for the walks is more difficult than the actual walks ... we that have been there can relate. But she also said that it gets easier each time, and we can relate to that too.

Candice's Dr. uses a "G-Tube" for his patients to ensure that they are able to get all of the meds, supplements, protien and fluids that they need to have a healthy recovery ... sounds like it would work well. Candice  is now of the morphine pump and is being switched to oral pain meds through her G-Tube.

Candice lives in an apartment that has 2 very steep flights of stairs, so her Dr. is planning for her to stay in hospital until Monday or Tuesday to be sure that she has the stamina to safely climb "Mt. Everest" when she gets home ... So don't be surprised when you don't hear from her until early next week.

I'm getting ready to fly to FL for the week-end. I'll try to touch base with Candice while I'm gone and post, but I might not post as often as usual. I just don't want you to worry about Candice.

Candice has asked me to let you know that she truly appreciates all of your well wishes and prayers.

Hope she had help on those steps. Glade to hear she is OK. Have a safe flight and a wonderful vacation. By the way........... What is a G tube?

Candice hasn't headed home yet and won't until her Dr. is sure that she can navigate those stairs safely.

A G-Tube is a Gavage Tube ... This is a tube that litterally runs from the mouth, down the esophogus, into the stomach and/or intestines. This will allow her to directly consume the fluids, meds, supplements and protien without having to "deal" with many of the swallowing issues most of us have post surgery. Again this is to ensure that she's able to get all of the nutrition, fluids, etc. she needs.

I'm enjoying my visit in Tampa and it will be good to get home.

Hope that helps.
