I was at Rose's looking for a sink drain strainer and came across a baby dish box set. It was only $2.00 and included a divided dish, bowl, cup, baby spoon and baby fork. And it has a tropical fish motif which I like. I'm going to start using them to get used to taking smaller bites. My Nut. has me on an insane diet where I can only eat 4oz total at a meal so maybe this will help my poor brain think that 4 oz is more (wishful thinking, huh?) I have three meals and three snacks a day (all journaled). I have discovered that the sooner I go to bed at night the sooner I can wake up and have breakfast. How sad am I? I don't do this very often but it does work for me when I've maxed out on food for the day. On the bright side I am losing weight. Linda

I love your thinking.  The divided dish, bowl and cup and baby spoon and fork are great ideas.  I laughedmy head off about going to bed early at night so you can eat breakfast early.  Girl, I know where you are coming from.  I have went to bed early many nights because I had ate everything I should eat for the day and I knew if I stayed up any more I would clean out the refrigerator.     My husband is a disabled Marine.  I live in Goldsboro now but my husband grew up in the Jacksonville area and was stationed there.  I have my first appointment with my doctor on August 16.  I'm excited.  I wi**** was sooner.

Smart thinking Linda, I also had read on one of these boards that a sippie cup with a lid is good, cause you wont gulp it, so, I'm going to ask the "pro's" about this. Nancy

Hi Linda, I am on my 3rd week out, eating pureed food, and I use baby spoons!  They are great!  If I used a regular spoon, that 4oz would be gone in 3 bites! BTW, 4 oz. fills me up just fine.  It will be easier, I promise. Lori

Linda -

The good news is that you'll be ahead of the curve when you actually have your surgery. I bought some smaller dishes myself. Some that hold a 1/4 cup well and some that hold a 1/2 cup well. I also purchased a set of "silverware" from Target. It's really a set of service peices for demi-tasse, hors d'oeurves, and spreaders so it has really small spoons, forks and knives. It really helps me pace myself. It comes with four sets of each utensil so there are enough for the dishwasher and dinner LOL.

It sounds like you are doing well.

Keep up the good work.

What a great idea!  I will have to keep my eyes open for that one.  I wish we had a Roses, but as far as I know, the closest one is an hour+ away.  Thanks for the tip. Take care. Ellen

That is a good idea!!!  I have a baby spoon and have been using that today to help me to take smaller bites.  It really does work!! Hugs, Donna

For those who like to save $$$$ , this is a good time of year to look for smaller, festive plates- like the salad or sandwick plates that Tagret sells seasonally for the summer. I bought some really cute ones with fish on them and its the only plates I eat off of....can't imagine using a full size dinner plate anymore. Lots of the seasonal items will be clearance priced soon, so happy shopping. With as little as I am eating- I want the plate to be pretty and the food to be tasty.  I also love the pre-op advise I was given to buy a bunch of the plastic spoons- the 1st couple weeks post-op, everything you "eat" is with a spoon- plastic are smaller and it keeps you from washing 4-6 sppons /day. It was helpful for me.... Sheila

I am a work in progress and I am committed to progress with the work ahead of me.....
