Just curious how long lap banders took off from work, or how long before you felt like going back to work after surgery? I've been told the procedure is outpatient and I could resume my normal activity within 3-5 days. Also interested in feedback on different protein drinks/shakes/smoothies/supplements ya'll found to be tolerable during the liquid phase. Many Thanks! Chareen

Char.- I had my surgery on a Fri and took of the entire next week. I do alot of bending, stooping and lifting, so he wanted me to heal 1st. A desk job type MIGHT be able to go back in 5 days or so- but I found the week really important to be able to focus on myself, walking and most importantly getting all those darn fluids in.  ?#2- my 2 fav. proteins immediately post op were Designer Whey Choc ( still my fav) and Isopure ready to drink- Alpine Punch and the Green Apple one- I bought them by the case at GNC. Get a GNC Gold Card and you get a significant discount at the 1st of every month. The best protein deal I found was on www.wlssupllies.com= they have a 70 different bottles of protein samples for $80. Its a great deal considering that's your entire intake initially and it gave me MUCH needed variety. I would recommend it. PM me if I can help with other questions, Take Care, Sheila

Ohhh, One more question Sheila... What about vitamins? I know my nutritionis told me what to do about my vitamins, but I cannot remember. Do you take children's or crush initially after surgery? I currently take Women's Mega Ultra from GNC and I know that won't go down after surgery. -Char BTW, Can you tell I am starting to panic with all these last minute questions????

Char. I buy the big bottle of children's chewables at Wal-Mart- I believe they are called Active Kids- MUCH better taste than Flintstones. My 9yo likes them too. I also found Vit C Cyrstals at GNC- I was bruising alot and my PCP suggested increasing my C- so I add 1/2 teaspoon to my morning protein shake. It has helped. At 3 months out I did start minor hairloss and added Bioton- but it seems to add hair everywhere- legs bristly after 1-2 days of shaving, more baby fine facial hair, so I am only taking it 3 days a week now. I had some great mentors through my surgery, so don't ever hestitate to ask any questions. This board is awesome for shared experiences and preferences. Stick with your Dr's advice for biggies, but we can all help each other. Sheila

Sheila, this is a fabulous site!  I have been looking for affordable plain unflavored whey powder with no success.  She has that ANYWHEY which is just what I have been looking for!  And that sampler case for $80 looks like a real good idea. Thanks for the link! Suzanne

I had my surgery on a Thursday and returned to work on Monday.  I have a desk job that is part time.  The only problems I found was that I was tired. I take a Flintstones each day.  My Dr. had me hold off on them for the first week or two.
