anyone use Dr Soossar?

Has anyone had surgery performed by Dr Soossar from Asheville?   Any problems?

A friend of mine had a lap band placed by Dr Soossar and had no complaints about the surgery or the doctor.

I've submitted paperwork to mission's program to be considered for the surgery. Have you had surgery by Dr Soossar or anyone from his group?

I submitted my paperwork and someone finally called me three weeks later to set up my first appt which isn't until the second week of september.  I don't want to be frusturated but I'm very surprised about how long the wait is.  What is/was  your experience?

They are slow.  I went to the seminar in May,  had my first appt on June 8,  and my second is not until Aug 1.   Dr Soosaar and Bradshaw have both done less than 12 bypass surgeries the entire year of 2007.   They dedicate very little of their practice to bariatrics.  We are getting a new doc from Missouri in Aug.  Dr Edwards is dedicated to nothing but bariatrics from what I have learned.  I have decided I want him.  I was also told that we will be able to get in sooner with him.    Good luck and keep in touch.    Debby

I looked through some of the testimonials for C. Edwards on this board.  People seem very happy with him and it looks like he's been doing it for more then twelve months--yeah!!!  Since he's new here I hope it'll be easier to get an appointment with him.  Are you self pay?  I have mission hospital insurance and there are lots of steps to getting approved?  I wonder why appointments with the bariatric program take so long to be scheduled if they do so few surgeries.  Maybe they're divided up with the other weight loss programs they offer?
