Approval & Surgery Date for Rex Hospital!!!

Yipeee!  I called my insurance company today was told that I have been approved for my lap band surgery! I never thought this day would come... When I spoke to my surgeon's office, they told me that Rex Hospital was going to start allowing bariatric surgeries again after about a 2 year hiatus (for problems with another surgeon). Better yet, they have moved my date up from August 22nd to July 16th!!!! I am so thrilled. I had my gall bladder surgery done at Rex 3 weeks ago and they were wonderful! I was fearful of having surgery at Franklin Regional because I'd heard some horror stories about cleanliness, etc. Everything has worked out the way it was supposed to I guess and this time next week, it will be a done deal! Thanks to everyone for your support up to this point. -Chareen

YAY!  We are having surgery on the same day!  And YAY for approvals!!! 

Wow Chareen! That's fantastic...and very close! LOL I wonder how soon is too soon to call insurance company to find out if you're approved. It's only been a week for me, but I have "ants in my triple X pants." Please, oh please, oh please...hurry! Mare

Yes, it was pretty quick. I hate to say this but, I called about every other day to check approval. I was told by someone in customer service at BCBS to "feel free to call to check your status any time". They didn't realize I would take them literally. My co-workers joked with me that they were going to approve me because they were sick of me calling. :-) I would call if I were you, you have nothing to lose. (No pun intended). Good Luck Mare!!!!! Congrats!  And to have your date moved up so far!  That is great! Even if it does not work out for you at Rex, don't worry; I am thrilled with the care I received at FRMH.  Because it is small, everyone was very personable and attentive. Good Luck and keep up posted! Lori

I had all of my testing done at FRMH and they were WONDERFUL!!! The building is a little older, but I never made it to the surgery or hospital rooms. Thanks for the luck! -Chareen

Chareen, I am jumping up and down for you! Congrats. I talked to Dr. Moran yesterday at my post op appt. and he said he was happy to be doing his surgeries at Rex.

I also had mine at FRMC and they were awesome. I even got a plant from the hospital from the CEO. I was so impressed.  Anyway, glad to hear it will be close and convenient for ya. Jennifer

Wow! A plant, how thoughtful! The staff was awesome there. I especially like the dietician/nutritionist I met with. I believe her name was Julia. Rex is definately closer to home and I do have a history there. I had 2 of my 4 children there, as well as my GB surgery. Looks like you're doing great Katt9!!! -Chareen
