Qestion to DR. Bauman patients

Does Dr. Bauman have you do the liquid diet for two week pre wls like some of the others do?

Nope, just the bowel prep.

I'm currently waiting for my date to come, and I asked him just that.  He claims that he does not do the liquid, the way he said it was, " you have to 2 weeks after with liquids, If you had to do 2 before, I know you'd be burnt out on it and no way would anyone hang with the program".  He did just say to me to really watch what I eat to shrink my liver so it's easier for him to get to. As far as the bowel prep, he doesn't make lapbanders do that.  I'm wondering if he cath's you.????? Anyone?????

I don't think they (Drs Bauman and Pirrello) cath for rny (I wasn't as far as I know) and I can't imagine they would for lap band, either, but can't guarantee it. I would add that I dropped 40 lbs in the two months prior to surgery, and Dr. Pirrello was thrilled.  So . . .I would suggest trying to drop some weight on your own prior to surgery.  Makes the surgery and recovery a lot easier!

No.  He will post pone your surgery if you 'gain' weight before your preop though.  He doesn't want you see this time as an endless one last supper.  You still need to take this time to shrink your liver to enable the surgery to flow smoother. I did not have a catheder for any of my surgeries with him.  You just get yourself up and go to the rest room after the surgery.  He will not baby you.  And one word of advice, use the pain medcine and pump, it's good stuff.!!!  The hospital rooms are nice too.
