I hate to bring this subject up....

But I have no appetite at all.  I have no problem getting down liquids and do my protein drinks and liquids faithfully, along with all my supplements.  When it comes to eating food, honestly, I'd rather not.  Most times I end up in a cold sweat with heart palpatations and then play the waiting game to see whether or not it will stay down.  I am believing that I will be on my supplements for the rest of my life!  Thank the Lord I feel great and haven't lost my hair.  Frankly, I am sick to death of cottage cheese, boiled eggs and pureed chicken.  I am seriously considering becoming a vegetarian because I am able to eat all vegies that are cooked soft; I love beets, spinach, cherry tomatoes; fruits I love fresh cherries and cantaloupe, mandarin oranges and grapefruit.  I have trouble with the texture of banana now.  Why is it I have it in my head I have to eat meat to survive?  Even beans have trouble settling in my pouch.  Nuts are a no go, can't even eat shelled sunflower seeds from the salad bar.  I feel like I am cheating because I am not off of soft foods yet and I have lost weight so fast! sigh... maybe I am being too hard on myself.  Thanks for listening... Hi Diane ~ Have you tried any fish for protein? With it being a bit lighter than meat it may be pleasing to your pouch. Dunno honey. Just a thought. :O/ Mare

Diane -

I'm sure that your appetite will improve with time. As it does and your pouch is ready, I'm sure that you will be able to expand the food choices you can tolerate.

Please check in with your nutritionist/dietician. I hope that they will have some suggestions that will be helpful to you.

Thanks Barb,

I communicate with my nut regularly and have another appt on Sep 4th.    Dr. Farrell says folks lose weight at different rates (between 2 - 8 lbs per week).  I am 14 weeks out and that would average about 5 lbs per week.  I haven't weighed myself this week yet, but will when I go to the gym this morning.  Of course my Mom says that is too much, too fast.  But I don't think she understands how the surgery works.  I hope you had a wonderful 4th of July. Since my first 10 days, I think I'm on the 2 lbs a week track. I sure would like to move to the 5 to 8 lbs a week track.

Hang in there Diane. I'm sure that you are doing all of the things you need to ... You definitely are being very successful!

Congratulations!

it sounds like to me you are not chewing your food enough to get the sweat and heart palpatations. I had the same issues at first.  You are still a newbie, hang in there, I still can not do maters, I used to love them.  Our taste do change and textures are very important to our pouches.  It will get better, chew slow and often, take very small bites of meat.  I could not do oranges for about 6 months, and nuts are still not a great choice ,,,, trail and error . Happy Friday  A
