What do you think?????? Lets seee.........I have eaten today.... BREAKFAST One sugar free cookie, one thin slice of deli roast beef... LUNCH one small beef rib a bite of potato salad SNACKING about 6-7 slices of cucumbers in vinegar not all at once but all through the day SUPPER a beef jerky stick... One bean LOL I tried it when I was feeding my baby LOL@ONE! Oh yeah I ate a pork rib too and spit it out and I took a bite of my sons barbecue sandwich and spit that out too I didnt like the way it felt in my mouth.. so thats what I have done today.... PLEASE BE HONEST I CAN ACCEPT FEEDBACK!!!!! I find myself going back and forth to the fridge looking....... I bought some mint chocolate sugar free cookies------dont know why I did that.....I think i will get my kids to eat them. I just feel like I am eating to muchhhhh maybe because I have been doing alot of sampling the last two days since I cooked a huge amount of food on the 4th. By the time I finished cooking yesterday I was full and didnt eat supper ( from tasting everything I made. Anyways I know this is a BAD habit to get into... Also maybe I feel like I am eating too much because I dont really have a meal I have just been eating a little here and a little there. So basically I have been eating ALL day. Which I know is BAD too. I will just try harder to do better tomorrow. Anyways any input will be great !!!!! Thanks everyone. Carol

I can totally relate to the whole "tasting & sampling" thing. I was a chef for 15 years and, of course, you have to taste everything to make sure it was "just right." That is where alot of my weight issues originated. I was never big, rather petite actually...until I got my first job in a restaurant...and LOVED IT!! The chaos....the creativity...the artistic flair. FOOD! Who knew it was so intoxicating? I didn't. My husband says "It's almost like you're in a trance when you talk about preparing a meal." "What...???" Am I that bad? I need this surgery more than you know. LOL And, yes, I am continuing counceling. I know I need it. Mare

Carol -

I don't think that you've eaten too much today. I've been using a software that you can access on Fitday.com to help me see just how much I'm injesting. I used it to estimate what you've had today ... You have probably had about 63 grams of protien! (Way to go.) Your total caloric intake was around 775. I'm not sure what your Dr. wants ... Mine wants 40-60 grams of protien and 900 calories +/-.

I hope that this helps some.

Carol and Mare- I SOOOO relate to the cooking and tasting. For about 2 months post op I had to truly limit my cooking just to avoid all the tasting. Mare, now that we all know you are the chef of the bunch- whatca bringing to the potluck??? LOL. BTW- I will be cooking hotwings and provided fresh steamed shrimp. for the potluck..... Carol- hang in there- you will do well! Sheila

Hi Carol,

Are you doing your protein shakes and drinking your water?  What about vitamins and calcium supplements?  They are so important, especially thiamin, biotin and protein for NOT losing your hair.  I still have to force myself to eat and then it's a waiting game to see if it will stay down.  I have no problem with liquids and my body now craves the protein shakes.  Well, I'm off to the gym!  Blessings, Diane

I would just work on making yourself set meal and snack times.. the most important thing is to make sure you are eating ENOUGH at each meal... if you are just nibbling here and there and not eating a complete meal that could be whats leading you to keep snacking during the day. Make sure you are following all the guidelines your surgeon set forth! :-) If you have to not drink a 1/2 hour before and after meals it makes it hard to nibble all day. Also, are you not doing protein suppliments? That is fine if you are not but are you keeping track of your protein? Looking at what you ate yesterday I would say your protein was very very low. Also would watch out for the fatty means (i.e. ribs) and work on getting in more lean proteins.

i agree with jennifer about the meal and snack times. i hear that grazing now leads to grazing in the future leads to possible weight regain. your recap didn't really sound like grazing to me, but confining your eating to meal/snack time only could keep that from becoming a problem. you're not eating like a pig! (unless maybe you're snorting while you do it. you're not, are you?)

Thanks for your replies----- I am gonna to set meal times for me----My doctor says 3 meals a day no snacks and no protein shakes or bars. I bought some protein powder from walmart anyways because I feel like I dont get enough protein.....But the problem is I am getting to the point where I cannot drink MILK... I tried some orange juice today even tho it has sugar I figured it was natural and would be okay since I can ea****ermelon, peaches, cherries and plums with no problem......BUT boy was I wrong!!!!!!!!!!I drank the OJ around 1 pm and its 9pm now and my stomach is still queasy. So any suggestions with the protein powder???? I got vanilla...I know I havent eaten enough today because I have felt sick most of the day from the OJ.. I guesss this is just a learning experience for us all and I definately learned somehing today___LOL----NO OJ FOR A LONG WHILE!!!!!!(for me atleast). WEll hope everyone has a good weekend...((((HUGS)))) CAROL.
