It's Official!

I am officially a participant in the "Insurance Waiting Game." Let's call it the "Insurance Endurance", shall we? All my stuff was submitted. Now I can have all the fun fretting and stewing that I've only read about! Happy Happy Joy! Will keep you all posted.  Prayers are welcome. Have a wonderful 4th. :O) Mare (It wasn't till I just typed this that I realized I didn't ask how it was submitted. Probably by mule??)

So far all but mine fax it! They still use horse and buggy at my surgeon's office! Hang in there and you will hear something in no time!  Hugs.

Perhaps they sent it by Pony Express or carrier pigeon.  Best of luck!  I was fortunate.. my insurance approved me in 1 day.  :D

I"M ON YOUR TEAM MARE,  MOVE OVER... 

I RECEIVED A CALL FROM MY SURGEON'S OFFICE TODAY INFORMING ME THAT MY COMPANY HAS A SPECIAL CLAUSE TO OUR MEDICAL INSURANCE POLICY THAT STATES THEY WON'T EVEN CONSIDER ANYONE FOR WLS WITH A BMI LESS THAN 40.  MINE IS 39.3  SO CLOSE BUT SO FAR. I WAS DEVASTED BUT KEPT MY COOL.  SHE TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD CALL MY BENEFITS DEPT., TELL THEM MY STORY, GET A NAME AND FAX # SO SHE CAN SEND THEM MY RECORDS TO REVIEW. 

ONCE THEY REVIEW THE RECORDS AND IF THEY OVERTURN THE SPECIAL CLAUSE, THE INSURANCE COMPANY NORMALLY WILL APPROVE THE SURGERY. WELL...  SINCE I'M THE H.R. MANAGER, I CALLED THE HEAD OF OUR BENEFITS DEPT.  HE WAS OUT OF THE OFFICE ON VACATION UNTIL JULY 9TH.  I WAS NOT GOING TO WAIT UNTIL THEN SO I CALL ANOTHER PERSON ON HIS STAFF WHOM I'VE KNOW FOR OVER 10 YEARS AND TOLD HER MY DILEMMA. GUESS WHAT?  SHE TOLD ME I WAS IN LUCK BECAUSE LAST WEEK MY COMPANY DECIDED TO MIRROR BCBS'S MEDICAL POLICY AND THREW OUT THE SPECIAL CLAUSE.  I ALMOST LOST IT ON THE PHONE I WAS SO ELATED.    WE TALKED A LITTLE MORE WHILE SHE FILLED OUT THE NECESSARY DOCUMENT THE INSURANCE COMPANY WILL NEED AND FAXED IT TO THEM TODAY.  YEAHHHH  I CALLED MY SURGEON'S OFFICE AND TOLD HER THE GOOD NEWS.  SHE WAS HAPPY TOO BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T HAVE TO GET MY RECORDS PREPARED.  SHE TOLD ME THAT THE BMI WAS THE ONLY THING HOLDING BACK MY APPROVAL AND NOW THAT THE SPECIAL CLAUSE WAS REMOVED FROM OUR INSURANCE POLICY I SHOULD HAVE MY APPROVAL ON JULY 5TH OR 6TH.  I'M SO EXCITED. I'M SHARING ALL OF THIS BECAUSE IF THAT SPECIAL CLAUSE WAS APPLICABLE I WAS GOING TO APPEAL AND AGGRAVATE EVERY AND ANYONE I COULD TO THE DEATH. 

CAN'T WAIT FOR FINAL APPROVAL.  SURGERY IS SCHEDULED FOR JULY 30TH.   KEEP US POSTED.

 

Welcome to the waiting game LooseCannon. I am there too. I called BCBS today and they informed me that they were still waiting on clarification on a few things from my surgeon. I was able to get through to Dr. Enochs' nurse practitioner and she informed me that everything they have requested was sent before lunch today. So we wait... I will continue to lift  you up in prayer.  Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers too! Happy Fourth!

I believe mine was strapped to the back of a turtle and sent in the general direction of the insurance office.  Hopefully yours will go quickly.  Mine took a couple of months.  In the end, it was so worth it.  I can't wait to hear when your date is... Take care. Ellen
