I am getting there

I went to a support group meeting my surgeon had last night and really felt great about all I saw and heard. Today his office called and I have my appointments for the mental eval. and the lady who teaches you what you can eat. I have an informational meeting with the surgeon in July and then his office will set up my first appointment. I am so pleased to get all that done last night and today. They did tell me it may have to be an open surgery because I have had three hernia surgeries and have mesh from the last one. Beth

I'm in the same boat....3 vertical c-section and massive hernia surgery with mesh. Hope things go well for you.

Hey Beth!  I just sent you a personal message.  I was at the support group meeting last night too.  I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to meet face to face.  We will definitely have to do that next month.  I am very glad that you have gotten the ball rolling on this.  It's a long ride but well worth every minute!  Let me know if you have any questions that I can help you with! Hugs, Donna

Hi Beth.  I had a triple hernia repair that replaced much of my stomach wall with mesh.  I was done lap not open.  It can be done if your insides cooperate, just wanted you to know that. Good luck with the preop approval process. Take care. Ellen

Ellen, I really appreciate you letting me know. I am not afraid of having an open surgery but it will complicate things some. I am a daycare provider for a deaf 2 year old and can't stand the thoughts of him having to spend a long time with someone else. And I homeschool our two youngest children so I really don't want to get behind if I get to have the surgery during the school year. We try to stick to the school schedule because we have two son who will be seniors in public school this year. Even though I have had the hernia surgery three times, my scar is not very big and doesn't feel thick or hard. It sort of looks like a stretch mark. I do hope it will go smoothly. Maybe the mesh won't be a problem. Thanks for the encouragement. Beth
