my test results came back today. My surgar is very high and my FSH came back as a 9 so you know what that means. The main thing riht now is to get my sugar down. My doc is putting me on another insulin at night this along with 2 oral diabetes meds and my byetta insulin. I admitt I am addicted to sweets but try like the devil to avoid that craving. Since I got a surgery date my sweet  cravings have gone through the roof. I keep telling myself well this is the last time I can have this soo I have been indulging. I know what I need to do to get them lower and I know I will do much better in surgery if my sugar is lower. Any ideas would be good.                                                   Annie

Annie -

I cleaned all of the "contraband" out of the house. This way it wasn't there to tempt me. I knew that I couldn't have it after surgery and so I removed it ahead of time. At first I felt bad about throwing it out, then I decided it was money already spent and I'd just flu**** anyway. Things that could go to Second Harvest did ... The rest his the trash can. Once it was in the trash I couldn't hurt myself with it anymore.

I don't know if that will help, but it's an idea ...

I hope it helps,

Barb

Thanks Barb, I have even planned on removing all temptation before surgery but going to do it now. Fortunatly Lee dosent care much about sweets and snacks. Normally I dont have stuff like this in the house but been doing that "never have it again" going on in my head. So for desert tonight we are enjoying a watermelon. Going load up on sugar free orange aide tomorrow and start recording my bs levels I can do this.                                                     Annie

Hey Annie, Those sweets sure are the devil aren't they?????   I agree with everyone else -- get the stuff out of your house and take it one day at a time.  You are right -- YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!   Hang in there and vent often if you need to.  We are always here for you! Donna

Annie- here was my approach to chocolate and all those other sinful sweets pre-op.  My preception is my reality- These were no longer my "friends"- the chocolate had made me fat and unhealthy. I declined offers for "last suppers' before surgery- again- there was NOTHING that I had not already eaten ( been there, done that....) and none of it brought me either health or happiness. Previously I thought it brought me comfort- but even that was short lived. EVERYONE talks about doing the head work with surgery, and pre op was when I tried to begin the headwork....it was hard, but after 50lb wt loss so far- gurl, it was SOOOOO worth it. Food is not my friend- it is purely an energy source to keep me healthy.....some days it's easy and some days it's really hard, but the head work is so vital for all of our success! Hang in there- you can do this journey and use this great tool we are given! Sheila

I am a work in progress and I am committed to progress with the work ahead of me.....

I feel for you... right now I am eating chocolate and washing it down with Diet Coke... I only have six more pieces of chocolate in my Nestles Treasures bag and then I have made a deal with myself no more candy is to be bought. I love sweets and I know how dangerous they can be. I was just going to suggest the Diet orange drink.. I see you already are going to get some I LOVE orange juice and because of all the sugar I only buy the Diet Orange drink mix. For some reason Orange juice flavored drinks always cure my sugar fix and I am out of it right now but going to the store today. Hubby is going shopping with me. He always keeps me clear of the candy and cookie aisle and if I try to put it in the basket he takes it back out. Make yourself a nice frosty glass full of Orange drink and stay strong!!!

Hi Darcie, finish up those chocolates and get it out of your mind. For the life of me I dont know why I was enduldging on sweets because in the long run I only hurt myself. All the signs were there and as I think about everything I was in a very sick way of health. I am back on track now sugar free everything now. Have you tried the Orange Sunrise by Crystal Light i think it is close to orange juice.                                                     Annie
