My mother and I got to the hospital with bags in hand when the chief of Surgery and the CEO of the hospital came out and told me there was an emergency and I'm bumped until an indefinite date. She will call me???? I understand but wow what an emotional day. I have been on a clear liquid diet for 4 days and nothing to eat or drink since midnight last night. It was tough and I'm so bummed. I sobbed right there in the hospital. So now I'm in a holding pattern until someone makes a decision.  Jennifer

First of all, let me say I am sorry that happened to you Jennifer. What did they say was the problem? I have never heard of such a thing. Did the doc have something come up? Strange. Yes, that really does bite, so to speak. Did they give any indication of how much of an indefinte wait you may have? They don't consider people have to rearrange their lives to have surgery with work and such and also with family and all. Not quite fair at all.  Lisa

Wow, this surely is disheartening. Have you contacted the dr's office to see what's going on.  It sounds serious if the cheif and CEO were there to speak with you.  That's pretty high on the food chain. Good Luck.  Sorry your going through this. Jennifer

Hmmm,,,  it does sound a mite suspicious.  I am thinking there was/is something wrong with your surgeon.  When something like this happens to me, I try to imagine God's good intentions behind it.  I try to consider the possibility of a blessing behind what appears to be a curse.  I try to trust the process, even if I am kicking and screaming at times. I am so sorry for your pain and sadness, Jennifer.  I will pray that the blessing reveals itself to you soon. Suzanne

I don't think there was a problem with Dr. Moran. They said they would try to see if they could get me in tomorrow. He was doing a lap-band and wouldn't be finished for 1 1/2 hours so she would call me when he got finished. That was at 2:00. I called and left a message for her but was told they were still in surgery. The CEO apologized but said "when an emergency comes in, our policy is to postpone elective procedures." I was told it wasn't any of his patients today but they couldn't elaborate.  I would want the same attention if it were my emergency... It just sucks! Jennifer

If it was at Franklin Regional, it could be any number of things.  I had mine done there too by Dr. Enochs.  It's a good little hospital, I worked there as a CNA through nursing school.  I know you were upset, I would have shown my butt.  (Not that it would have helped) Hope you get another date soon.   Hugs, Manya

Oh my gosh I am soooo sorry to hear that. I hope you find out something soon about your surgery. A lap-band surgery is only 1hr to 1hr and 1/2 at the very most. So sorry...and big hugs your way.
