What to take to a formal wedding reception 4wks out

We have been invited to the wedding and formal reception for one of our dear friends. When we responded, I declined dinner. They have been really gracious and told me to bring whatever it is that I can eat and they will have it plated and served when it's time for dinner.

Soooo....Now that I've declined the Filet Mignon, does anyone have any good ideas? I'll still be on soft foods.

Barb,              Would a moist piece of fish work? When I was eating soft food crab legs went down very well for me too...could that be an option? Or there is always soup??? =0)   Sarah

Thanks. I was wondering about a small crab cake (baked instead of fried)... I'll probably try to figure out a couple of sides so that the plate doesn't look awful and I'll have some options.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I'll have to see what I can tolerate too.

don't feel obligated to eat just because everyone else is eating. and don't worry what the other people think!

I'm not worried about what others think of what I'm eating/not eating and it's not that I'll feel "obligated" to eat just because everyone else is ... it's that I'll need to eat during the 4 to 6 hours that we'll be there and I'm trying to plan. I want to be able to enjoy myself during dinner even if I can't enjoy the lovely filet mignon or grilled chicken. For me, having a plan will help.
