Could you possibly go and sign this petition?? http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/township-of-union-nj-animal -shelter-30-day-euthanasia-policy It's for my hometown shelter!! They JUST opened up for business a few months ago and they are making the STUPIDEST decisions, and it's BREAKING my heart to hear this new one! A very good friend of mine who is involved in rescue and also helping the shelter started the petition and asked me to try to get as many signatures as I could, so I immediately thought of this gang - I know there are a lot of animal lovers here!!!! If anyone has a spare minute and is an animal lover, please help us save the animals in my home town! (and feel free to email it to all the animal lovers you know!!!) ***This post was copied from the Lap Forum, Please consider helping the animals!********

I just signed, but you want to know what stinks? , My town does the same thing.  30 days.  They hold a week after capture, none after turn in, and you only get a 7 day adoption chance.  That's where my 2 have came from and I am waiting for Monday, a dashaund comes off holding and starts his countdown.DH will probably will not be happy, but oh well, let him take the poor dogs place! lol. Thanks for the link!

Thanks for going and signing it! My husband kills me everytime I bring in a stray or go to a shelter. I can't leave without bringing someone home! Me and the kids gang up on him -we always win! And after all I'm the one who takes care of all of them! The kids call this one mine, and she's your's but.... I tell them who scoops the cat box and feels them, who lets the dogs in and out all day long and feeds them and makes sure they always have water? Lately though I hve been making the kids give the animals a bath. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats right now and that's it. Usually my son has some type of lizard or turtle or fish in his room. NO SNAKES OR SPIDERS allowed! Good luch with your your new baby!

Oh, boy, am I in trouble.  I went to the shelter and it was the dashaund's first day up for sale.  They had to go get him because he's still in the back, not up front on the line, and he ended up being the best little dog.  He had fleas, skin condition, few bite marks like he had been attacked, and dried black oil all down his back, looked like he had been hiding under a car.  I spent a hour there visiting outside.  He came out of his shell and was licking me on the mouth and face.  He poked around in the grass, then wanted back up on my lap.  He's definatly been held. He had a cut by his eye that had scabbed over but thru rubbing his head on me it came off and started to bleed.  I gave him back and text my DH, who's as usual, in a meeting.  He won't have a problem, but my emotional baggage wont' let me make a choice without making sure its 100% ok with everyone involved.  Needless to say, he'll be rescued one way or the other before the days out.
