pre-op

I had a abg done when I was doing my work up do I have to have another one done at pre-op or the day of surg. Abg hurt so I need to prepare myself..... Vickie

I'm sorry it was painful. Call your Dr. to see if they will require a repeat. I doubt it. I didn't have to have it repeated when I had my surgery about 2 wks ago.

Sorry it hurt for you! It's all in the persons technique and knowledge. You shouldn't have to repeat that test. They should just do a reg. blood draw.

You should not have to have another one, the one you had is good for 6 months.  Wendy is right, it's all in the technique and experience of the phlebotomist.  My abg didn't hurt at all. Good luck with your surgery.  Please keep us updated. Take care. Ellen
