I have a question, what are you eating?

So, I moved to Charlotte pretty soon after my surgery and am still in the process of finding new docs.  I followed the recommended diet until i got back to "regular foods" and that's where my question lies.  For those of us who are far enough our to be back on  "regular foods" what are you eating, what do you stay away from?  I've just been playing it by ear and I'm curious to know what everybody else is doing.

Joe - I can't help with your question since I'm pre-op for the band but, I must say your doing something right! Your weight loss is incredible. You must feel like a new person?! Best Wishes on your continued WLS journey!

Thanks! Its a new experience, that's for sure.  Physically, I feel great...a 1000% better than before.  My head however is still playing catch up with the rest of me.

I'm eating the house, Joe. The HOUSE! Insurance is killing me!  I'm pre-op so I can't help you. I could give you the answer I got from a doctor while doing research on the WLS. And I quote, "Meat. Just eat meat."   Now there's some good advice from a top-notch doctor!  I hope you find the answers you are looking for.  Congrats on your weight loss and good luck in the rest of your journey.

Joe - Believe her when she's telling you she's eating the HOUSE! I had to go over yesterday and put the Hannibal Lecter mask on her. Poor woman!

I jus****ched Hannibal Rising last nite... that statement gives me scary mental images!! :-)

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

Jennifer - That's funny because I rented it yesterday BUT i haven'****ched it yet! Tonite we will, my husband is so funny watching scary movies - like a little kid .... oh no, wai****ch, he's gonna jump out.... LOL I'm a screamer! LOL Makes him even more nervous! What a team  LOL

I have no food intolerances and can pretty much eat what I want. I try and avoid fast food, anything enriched and anything with high fructose corn syrup in it.  For me the key has been balance... I am not one who has banned any food... I eat what I want but in moderation... I do have "treats" now and then but they have no become a habit for me. There are certain foods (like fast food) I no longer choose to eat because its just crappy food... tastes crappy and is crappy for you.  Basically my meals are protein/veggie/fruit followed by carb/starch last. For bread/starch carbs I am suppose to keep it to 2 servings a day so the rest of my carbs come from fruit/veggie/dairy.
