APPROVED!!!! and Tenative surgery date!!!!!

Yeah, I got APPROVED!!!!!!!!! It was a long 6 week wait from my insurance after a two year ordeal to get my pre-qulaifications done ( accidentally pregnant 1/2 way through) .  I called and got a tenative surgery date for Aug 2nd.  I can't believe it.  It feels so real all of a sudden.  I had studied and prepared myself for two long years.  After being overjoyed, I had a moment of shear panic.  Is this normal?  Should I be nervous already? Well most of me is still excited!  Now, I can get healthly! Alane

Congratulations Alane!  What a long journey you've had, you should be proud of yourself for you dedication.  It's normal to be scared, this is major surgery.  It just tells me that you're taking it seriously.  Do what you can to prepare ahead of time.  Walk as much as you can every day, learn to take smaller bites and chew thoroughly, try not drinking when you eat, up your protein, and start taking vitamins.  All of these things will make recovery easier for you.  Others on here have great preparation advice as well.  Please keep us updated.  We'll all be here to cheer you on. First of all, Congratulations on your approval and tenantive date in August. I think it's absolutely normal to nervous. It is major surgery afterall. More than that, we face major physical and emotional changes as we learn how to deal with the losses and gains that will result when go thru this surgery and the following days, weeks, months and years.

It's right to feel however you do. Nervous and excited are perfectly normal responses to realizing the reality of what you are working towards. A healthier you.

Alane, Congratulations on your approval.  I would say that nervousness is a relatively common reaction to the fact that the surgery is now becoming reality.  We go through so much to finally get that approval letter and then it is kind of like, "Holy cow what am I doing?"   My surgery is on June 21st and I have never been this nervous before about a surgery, and I have had a few.  I guess it is not so much the surgery but the 'how will my life change after and will I miss eating'.   I guess that is why we have this message board and the support group meetings and a psychiatrist visit again if we need it.  Good luck to you and try to stay focused on the positive side of all of this.  YOU WILL BE A HEALTHIER, SLIMMER YOU!

Congratulation's on your long awaited turn! Your ready, you've stuck with it for 2yrs -that's a commitment!  Now, panic is normal - believe me I'm having plenty myself. My date is this week if all goes well.  Best wishes to you!
