Meeting with my surgeon 6/18/07
Hi my name is Annie and I live in Pittsboro NC
I mostly hang in the BMI over 50 boards but as I was looking around OH I found this one .
Needless to say I have been working to have this surgery for almost three years now.
Finally after being denied twice I got approved.
So come monday my hubby and I will meet with Dr. Farrel at UNC and we will get a surgery date.
I am excited to get the show on the road here and continue on this new journey.
I would love to meet others close by who have had RNY at UNC .
I will be sure to post my surgery day when I get it.
I hope to be prepared before surgery as far as shakes and anything else I am going to need when I get home.
Any advice is welcomed.
Annie
Hi Annie - I'm sorry I can't give you any answers to your questions. Just wanted to say Congratulations on your approvel and your awesome to have stuck it out for so long...gotta fight for what you want! Everyone is wonderful here and I'm sure you'll be getting some get replies soon. Welcome to the NC board and look forward to getting to know you!
Hi Wendy,
Thanks for the welcome.
It has been a struggle but I stuck with it because it is for my life.
My highest weight in 1998 was over 600lbs.
I lost 300 on my own got remarried and started a new life.
Unfortunatly after 300 my weight was at a stand still so my pcp said I should look into gastric by pass so here I am at the starting point.
Life is so much better not being 600 plus but I know it can only get better.

Hi Annie and welcome to the NC boards.
Sorry I can't offer any advice on what things to have on hand in preparation for surgery. My surgery is scheduled for July 10th and I am waiting until I go for my final pre-op visit with the nutritionist before I stock up. Everyone who attends our support group meeting that has already had surgery advises us to wait till then so that we won't purchase a lot of unnecessary stuff. But I wanted to welcome you aboard and just say way to go on the 300 lb loss!!! That is just incredible!! I have no doubt that you will take this WLS tool and run like the wind with it!!! You have already succeeded and I know that it will only get better for you! Congrats and please post frequently!!

Thanks Donna for the welcome.
I feel sorta crazy I did not find this board till yesterday because I am on OH many times on and off.
I love your statement about running like the wind with my new tool.
In fact to be able to run is a dream for me.
I have not run or do not know how to any more.
Last time I ran I must of been a child.
I have many goals for myself and hope to accomplish them all or at least most of them.
Last week a dear friend gave me six full admission tickets to The NC Zoo this is a goal for me is to be able to go to the zoo and walk around and enjoy the animals.
The tickets are good till December 2008 so I am going to work to get to that goal.
