Ten Day Countdown

Ten day countdown!!  Well, I can hardly believe it, just 10 more days until I become a loser.  I have my Pre-op appointment on Tuesday 6/12.  My surgery will be performed on the 20th at Franklin Regional Medical Center in Louisburg .  My mom and my daughter will be in Louisburg for the surgery until I’m released.  I plan to book a hotel that is right around the corner from the hospital so that my mom and daughter will be comfortable.  My daughter is 5 and I know for a fact she will need a break from the hospital.  I think that I will check in the evening of the 19th and have check out on that Friday the 22nd, since most people stay for about 2 days after Rouen-Y.

Now, I understand that one must also be prepared for the unexpected, but I am a very strong believer in mind over matter and positive thinking.  I have been experiencing nervousness and the occasional negative thoughts.  When this occurs I speak to myself and I speak to the thoughts and I will not allow these things to take precedence over such a positive change that is about to occur in my life.  It really does seem as though you get what you expect.  If you expect lots of problems then often times that is what you get.  At least when I reflect on my life experiences this is what has happened.  It seems that while it is so important to be prepared, it is also equally important to have high expectations as well.

My physician does not require the pre-surgery two week liquid diet that many of you had to undergo.  I have been monitoring my diet very closely, because I don’t want to gain any weight, in fact I would like to lose 10 lbs.  I’ve been drinking mostly protein shakes “isopure” and eating protein bars “south beach”.  I have managed to drop 3lbs and that’s exciting for me mainly because it is not 3lbs gained.

Well now that I have written a thesis, I will sign off now.  Thanks to everyone who has been so supportive and encouraging.  I really appreciate it.

I too am a big believer in positive thoughts.  I know that we cannot always control what happens to us but we can control how we react to the situations we find ourselves in and seeing the positive in everything is the only way to go.  So that's what I always aim for.  Mind over matter.  It's a good thing! Good luck to you with your upcoming surgery.  This is such an exciting time for all of us.  I will be thinking of you and praying for you in the days to come.   Please be sure to keep us all updated on your progress. God bless, Donna
