CAT scan...after RNY surgery...question

Does anyone know about having a CAT scan after RNY surgery?  I'm supposed to drink 48 ounces of that stuff.  I told the girl @ the desk I was a gastric bypass patient and she said "that doesn't matter, your stomach is the only thing that's changed, not your intestines."  Hello, my intestines have changed also haven't they?  I don't know how they expect me to drink all of that in a 1 and 1/2 hour timespan.  Anybody know anything about this? Thanks, Wendy

Call your surgeon and double check, but I can't imagine you being able to drink 48 ounces in 1 1/2 hours.  They should be able to give you instructions, and maybe educate the cat scan staff. Take care and let us know what you find out, that will be good information for us to have. ~Ellen

Thanks for replying Ellen.  After calling numerous people, I finally got someone who knew something.  We are only supposed to drink 24 ounces over a 1 hour period.  Never go by what the girl @ the desk tells you.  She tried to tell me the only thing that changed was my stomach.  She said they didn't do anything to your intestines.  Hello, they actually did reroute them.  So, just go to show you to do your research. Thanks, Wendy
