BRADY WAY IN MOREHEAD??? good/bad/indifferent!!!???
My name is Chauntelle, I live in CA and had RNY in October of last year. My father, who lives in Eastern NC, has watched my progress and is now allowing himself to consider WLS. My father had 2 heart attacks and a triple bypass years ago and I never thought he would be a candidate for WLS because of that. His doctor told him he would be and wanted him to consult with a surgeon. My dad FINALLY agreed to it, and they are sending him to a Dr. BRADY WAY in MOREHEAD CITY, NC.
I would like to hear from any of you who have had any dealings with Mr. Way, his staff and the hospital he uses. My father has heard horror stories about Morehead's hospital and his fears may persuade him to veer away from the surgery. He sees me, who has had NO complications and compares me to others there with LOTS of complications and I can't convince him to not compare.
I want him to be very educated on his doctor and he could use all the encouragment. Im trying to make him a page, but for right now information would be appreciated!
Thank you in advance.
Hi I havent had my surgery yet but I am having mine in Greenville, NC. They have recieved the center of excellence award for the bariatric program. I would recommend maybe looking into greenville, it not that far from Morehead. I know alot of people who have had surgery there. My date is the 23rd of May----keep me in your prayers... Good luck with finding a good surgeon for your dad..
I guess since my original post was not posted or just removed I can't answer that for Morehead Hospital or Dr. Bradys benefit. I assume I must of been the only one that didn't know you can not post first hand negative knowledge. So lets reword it Go to ECU/Pitt Hospital in Greenville. I live across the Bridge from Morehead and in the same town as the Doctor. No doctor here is at the same level of experiance in this procedure as the ones in Greenville at this time. And it is a Printed Newspaper article FACT that the proceedure is no longer allowed at the Morehead Hospital for reasons.
I would advise you to tell him to go to Greenville or Wilmington. It is true that they have stopped doing the procedure in MHC. I am orignally from MHC, but I live in Jacksonville now. Carteret General does not have one of the best reputatations and that can be researched as well. I am not trying to down grade Morehead City or Carteret General; I was born in that hospital and raised in MHC. But different hospitals have different levels of care and things they are capable of doing. It would be worth the drive of him going to a larger hospital that would be more suitable for this type of surgery. Because if anything major was to go wrong...he would be airlifted to Pitt Memorial anyway. With him being at a higher risk with his past conditions, you want to be extra safe.
