Putting the cart before the horse..
3 weeks -- I'll go bonkers! Did you call them at all during that time to check on your status? I'll be calling 3x week.
I love my UHC plan! They cover everything! I had a really bad ear infection in Dec. and was in the ER 2x and to my ENT to many times to count, over 16k for my ear!
Look'n forward to the bump, bump!
Wendy
Wendy -
I also have UHC and my information was submitted on 4/25 and I had an answer by 5/9. I think that by their contract they allow themselves 14 business days or what amounts to 3 wks, but my approval came in about a week early. Let it got for a week to 10 days and then when you call it should have been moved to the "medical director" for "determination" ... Once the "medical director" has it you will usually hear within a couple of days.
I'm sure that your Dr's. office went ahead and booked your surgery because in their experience with UHC and your history, they have been able to get an approval.
Sit tight ... Jeez, I know how hard that is ... I'm "sitting tight" for my surgery June 5. So close, but so far ... I'm sure you'll hear soon and since you already have your surgery date, you won't have to wait too long.
Let us know when you hear the good news.
All the best,
Hey, Wendy,
Just wanted to put my 2 cents in. I have UHC Choice my information was sent in to them via fax (they don't accept mail request) on April 23rd by my surgeons office and I call them on the 24th and they stated that they had received it. The care coordinator gave me a comformation number and told me that UHC has 7 to 30 days to approve. But I think they tell people that so they won't call every hour on the hour. The care coordinator told me to call weekly to check on the claim. Well I called on April 30th only seven days from submission and I was approved. My surgery date is on June 5th.
UHC was great and very prompt in processing the request. Good luck to you and God Bless.
Hi Ruth-
After I had my initial consultation with my surgeon his nurse set up all of my appointments, I just showed up! I did make my own GI and Psychiatrist appointments because I already had my own Dr.'s for that. You can look at my profile, I have my process all listed there
I seems that each Dr. handles things differently, I'm sure your Dr. will give you all the fun details.
Best Wishes- Wendy
Thanks. I'm getting excited already. I went to my first meeting with the Dr last week. Since then, they have set me up for blood work, nutritionist visit, and I have psych test (5-23) and pre - op with nurse(5-24). I feel as if I am really moving through the process - Or at least something is happening. Thanks for for your response and information. How soon should I look for them to assign me a date for surgery. Let me read your page and then I will probably ask more questions.. Again Thanks Wendy,
Ruth
