What was/is your biggest fear...

going into surgery? Mine is stupidly silly... not being able to wipe my own butt for a few days! I'm just curious as to how others felt/feel going into this. Thanks for any feedback. Shawana

That wasn't my biggest fear because I didn't know that was going to happen and it did! I got a wicked case of diarrhea & started my period my first night home. My butt was so raw Luckily, I have the shower attachment on a hose. That and vaseline finally did the trick. My sweet husband offered to help but I had too much pride...or shame...whatever. My only fear was having complications and having to have an open RNY or of course, not waking up at all. I did have some complications and stayed in ICU the first night and day but it's been all good since the initial recovery time. I'd do it again today.

Yup, aunt flo definitely will visit again. In fact, you might want to think about getting some pads to have on hand when you get home. I think it's the trauma from surgery and/or the anesthesia. I was fortunate, I had mine the week before surgery, so there wasn't anything left. Take care. ~Ellen
