Hello everyone.. My name is Beckie and I currently love in Connecticut. My husband and I are contemplating moving out of state (we are still at the decision making stage). If we chose NC (which is most likely the one we would choose), he would work in the Rocky Mount area. Do you have any insight on schools, nice towns, etc... it is so hard to imagine going some where when you have zero back ground of the area. I can visit it but never really *know*. So, if you would like.. could you let me know you thoughts? Also, I would need the name of a surgeon to carry on my post op Appointments. Thanks a bunch! Beckie

Beckie, Turn that confused looking yellow face into one of great joy. I was born raised and will probably die in North Carolina and I feel so blessed. We have it all in this state. The ocean and beautiful mountains. Rocky Mount is a good town to live in. Good shopping and good people. I do not know enough about it to offer insight into the schools though. Greenville is not so far away. I am a patient of Southern Surgical and so are many others on this board. They are very good at what they do. I wish you the best. Jump in with both feet and enjoy the NC adventure. Diane B.

Hi Beckie. I live in Greenville too, and love it very much. We moved here a year and a half ago and it immediately felt like home to us. My surgeon is Dr. Chapman with the Brody School of Medicine at ECU. He is very good at what he does. I was quite pleased with my experience. North Carolina is a great place to live. Take care. ~Ellen

Becky - My sister-in-law is from Conneticuit. She loves it here. I'm from CA's SF Bay Area and I still feel like that's my paradise. Don't get me wrong. It's pretty here. I live in "the Triangle" and generally find people to be nice and helpful. Sounds like you have school age kids, so that should help anchor you here once you arrive. Barb

Hi Becky. I live in Rocky Mount. It has good schools and it is a growing town. Really convienent to Raleigh and Greenville where there are great surgeons. They are now doing WLS here in Rocky Mt. though I had mine in Raleigh with Dr. Moran. He is the greatest. We are only about 2.5 hours from the beach and 3 from the mountains. It is a beautiful state. You will be happy here.

Hi Beckie, I currently live in Rocky Mount and love it. I have two children so I am a wealth of knowledge on the surrent school situation. HTe housing market is reallya buyers market tight now with a lot of choices. Rocky Mount is approx 45 min- 1 hours from Greenville, and Raleigh which have large Centers of Excellence. However, Dr McDonald, out of Greenville, is now seeing patients in Rocky Mount 2 half days a week. Please write me or call, my cell (252-314-7661) if you have any questions. Alane

Hi Becky.....I am jealous. I grew up in Rocky Mount and I miss it so much. I live in Jacksonville, which is about 2 hours away. I can tell you to stay more towards the northern or western parts of RyMt. They are more family orientated. Of course I am biased towards the Southern Nash school system. Good luck and look me up if you make it to the beach!!! Kelli
