BCBS carrier SHEPS

Hi all, I am currently twiddling my fingers waiting for my final answer from insurance do. My docs office submitted on friday to Empire BCBS of NY. Seems they've changed our carrier and we didn't even know it. Doc's nurse said it is SHEPS !!??? Does anyone have a clue as to what SHEPS stands for? Or has anyone worked with them in the past? Any help you can give me will be greatly appreicated !! Thanks, Cathy

It's SHIPS. They are the 3rd party approval company for BCBS. I have BCBS and they are a group of independant nurses and dr's who don't work for BCBS and they are GREAT to work with. They normal make a decision within 72 hours and they called me every so often to see how I was doing and if I needed anything. Shannon

My company is self insured through United Health Care. I know SHIPS is also our administrators and our approval system. They are wonderful. Rest well knowing you are in good hands. Many blessings, Diane
