see if they will give you samples of the protein shakes, vitamins etc. It is a good way to try them without having to buy a large bottle and not liking it. A girl I know let me try some of the ISOPURE chocolate it was wonderful, like chocolate milk.

Great! I will do that. The only concern that I have is... I hear that post-op your taste buds change quite a bit. What if I love it now and hate it then? Should I buy this stuff pre-op, or go through a taste test post-op? Thanks again for the advise and I will definately go check out the ISOPURE. - Candice

I never experienced a "dramatic" taste bud change post-op... I narrowed proteins down to about 5 and re-tried them post-op... biggest change was I couldnt handle anything thick so I went for mos****ery protein out of the group Places like EarthFare, Heath Food Stores, Whole Foods sells samples... I thinks its wise to at least eliminate the nastiest of the bunch so you have less choices post-op to retry

Today, the thought of a fruity protien drink makes me nauseous. My hope is that I will find one that works for me. I will definately be hosting a taste test. Maybe I can have fun with it and invite friends over and get them involved. Everyone bring a sugar free protien drink sample for Candice to try. I think they would like that. Nonetheless, thanks for your insight. Happy Friday! Candice

Hi, I got your post last week about Dr Weiner, but could not figure out how to reply. I hope it went well. You must have passed if they scheduled you for the nutrician class. The class made it all really hit home for me. I knew this would be a lifestyle change, but seeing the specifics about the pureed diet, etc.. made it all seem very real. Let me know if ther are any unresolved issues w/ Dr Weiner

Hi Kristen: I do not go back for my second evaluation until the 21st. I think I am ok. I am just not comfortable talking to her. I think it is a trust thing. This time I am going to step out of my comfort zone and put it all on the line. I held back a lot with her before not offering too much information. This time I am going to let it all out. I am not sure what she is looking for but I am going to put all my cards on the table.

Hi Candice, I was just curiuos...when you say nutrition class are you talking about the patient education class or is this a whole different thing. I go to Dr Washington...saw him for the first time May 1. I'm scheduled for my EGD for May 10. Then I think when they get the results from that they send for approval from the insurance. They said when I come back to see Dr Washington I would get my surgery date. Maybe we'll get the chance to meet someday since we're both using the same center. Good luck on your journey. Patsy

Patsy, Thanks for your response. Yes, I went to the patient education (nutrician/exercise) class last night. It was very informative. Do you attend the support groups in the Raleigh area? I would love to catch up and learn more about your story and experience. Take care, Candice
