I got up this morning and felt great. I had been at work for about an hour and was sitting at my desk working on the computer when my upper back (about the same location as my bra strap) started hurting. It was so uncomfortable that I got up and stretched and walked around. It did not help and got worse and then I felt nauseated. I went to the bathroom, but could not vomit so I went back in my office and the pain was so bad I could not breathe. All of a sudden, it went around to my chest, I felt nauseated and started to sweat really bad. My nurse walked by my door and I summoned her to take me to the E.R. On the way there, my face became numb and it was very difficult to breathe. I was praying the whole way to the hospital. The minute we pulled up to the E.R. it stopped but decided to still go and be checked. They hooked my up to a monitor and I could tell my EKG was okay (I'm also a nurse) and blood pressure was okay. The E.R. nurse came in and told me I would be going to get a chest Xray and she would start an I.V. I knew it was not cardiac so when she came in to start my I.V. I told her I was fine, and was going to sign out AMA. She said because the dr. did not see me they would just note, I left without being seen. I am thinking now it was a muscle spasm. Has anyone else had this problem. I have never hurt so bad in my life, and really I feel fine now.

sounds like it could be gallbladder pain. Did you stay for anything? I learned the hard way, you need to persue what's hurting and keep at it, otherwise you could wind up with minor or serious repercussions. Good Luck.

Hey, I went through the same thing for almost 2 years now. Had all the test done. Had the same pain. 4 doctors told me it was acid reflux....I didn't think so. Hurting in my back......NO NO NO.......I was at work and hit me and hurt so bad I went down on my kneese. I work at the health department. So they sent me to the e.r. I told the doctor in a very, very mean way I was sick and I was so tired of them not finding out what was wrong. I didn't have the money to keep running back. I was not leaving until they found out what was wrong with me. He did lots and lots of test. And told me the whole time it was panic attacks............and I have them so bad I pass out and get confused. He has put me on axenax 3 times a day. It has been about 3 or 4 weeks now and I have not had any pain. And he said all the throwing up I have done was not from my gbs but from panic attacks. Why in the hell didn't all these plus the one that did my gbs not find this. I have been throwing up for 22 months now. I am down to 95 lbs.........and the doctor just sends me to get tpn fluids when I get under 95 lbs. Seems like no doctor wants to help me because I had gbs. They don't do it at all in my little town. I had to drive about 1 hour away to get it done. Good luck and if you find out what is wrong, please let me know. By the way I had my gall bladder took out years and years ago. ( don't know if I spelled gall bladder right ) Not a good speller...Sure you can tell...lol...lol...lo.... Amy

Debra- So sorry to hear of your scare! Glad that your feeling better now. I wish you would have stayed and had the once over. Since you went and checked in, you'll still have your co-pay for an ER visit (I imagine). But really if you felt bad enough in the first place to go, you should have stayed. I'd hate for you to experience this same feeling again. I'm witting this in the most sincere manner and hope you read it as such. I'm also a nurse and really emphasize for people to listen to your bodies and advocate for themselves. Best Wishes - Wendy

I'm really fine. I won't have to pay. They wrote that I left without being seen. Thanks for your concern.
