Where do I start?

I am exploring having surgery. How do you decide which type is best? Can you tell me pro/con's from your own experience? Thanks

I decided which surgery to have after reading tons of research and asking a million questions. I still wanted my surgeon to pick for me but he wouldn't! My best information came from the seminar put on by my surgeon. The pros/cons/risks/benefits of each options were explained in detail. Secondly, I stuck to this website like glue. It is a wealth of information! I had the bypass and have no regrets. The only complaint I can come up with is that I didn't do it sooner! Best wishes. Karen

I would start by seeing if there is a seminar in your area... they will typically go over all the surgeries and give you the pros and cons of each. I would also contact your insurance to see what they cover since that may limit your choices.

I couldn't agree more w/ the above post. I know most all surgeons will go over the pros and the cons. I also don't know a surgeon that will choose for you. They want you to make the choice, unless you have some major health problems. For me I needed the support of my husband and family and I got that w/ the band. I am have been very happy w/ my choice and like above the only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. Good luck w/ your search...it's a lot to concsider!!!!
