What can I expect next?

I have my first appointment at the surgeons office Tuesday. I am so excited. Just wondering what happens now. Should I see the surgeon on this visit or will it just be all paperwork? I am so ready to be on the losers side. Patsy

It all depends on the surgeon's office. The first surgeon I had, I never met. I didn't like the way his office worked. So, when I found out I had to wait six months anyway, I switched to Dr. Bauman and I met him on my very first visit. I think it's important to meet the surgeon right away.

Hi Patsy. I can't speak for all surgeons, but the two I had I met at my first individual office appointment. I don't recall a ton of paper work, but each surgeon and insurance company are different. He/she will expect questions if you meet with him. I don't know if you're like me, I forget everything I wanted to ask when I get face time with a doctor. I would write a list of questions down before I go. Take care. ~Ellen

My surgeons office mailed me all the paperwork before my first visit - it was a lot! My frist visit consisted of speaking to the nurse and then the surgeon. I didnt require any pre-op testing so my next step was getting to the nutritionist and getting my psych eval done!

Hi Jennifer...I have already mailed in my packet of info I got when I went to the seminar. Passed my psych evaluation, got the ok from my cardiologist, hopefully got everything I needed to done. Hopefully it won't be as long as it has been untill I can be on the losers bench with the rest of you . Patsy

I didn't meet the surgeon at the first visit, and I also have 6 months to wait per insurance stipulations, however, some bariatric surgeons had a seminar at my local hospital which I attended. I got to meet 4 of them and chose my surgeon based on what I observed at the seminar.
