Hi All!!!

I am new to the forums here so I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Amanda. I'm 29 years old and live in Durham, NC. Anyone out there live in my area? Anyway, I am at the beginning of my WLS journey and I'm looking for new friends and support. I have my first appointment at the Duke WLS Center on Monday April 30. Is there anyone here who has had surgery with them or in the process of having surgery with them? I would love to get to know you all!!!

Hi Amanda, I'm not in Durham, but I am from Greenville, NC and I visit Raleigh often as I have a good friend there. I haven't been to Duke nor do I know anyone that has. Welcome and good luck with everything! -Amber

Hi, Amanda.. Im Kiesha you can call me K I am also 29 bday in Sept.. am i older? hehehe I live in the Raleigh area and having my surgery in Pinehurst with Dr. Mitchell on May 24th. I thought about having mine at duke also but i dont think they take my insurance Tricare and well I thought the process was a bit long if I am remembering correctly.. I have a sister that lives there in Durham.. anyways.. good luck if you have any questions or just need to chat.. Im always availble.. K

Welcome and good luck on your WLS journey! I did the seminar at Duke and the surgical staff was wonderful. They really seem to know there stuff. I am in Asheville and going to have my surgery in Charlotte... I don't think I really want the four hour ride home after surgery from way down there! This board is great. Simply ask and there will be someone that can help or offer support.
