How long can I expect to plateau?
I had surgery Febuary 9th and that puts me at almost 11 weeks out. I had lost fairly quickly the first few weeks (which I expected on liquids) But the past 2 weeks my weight has bounced back and forth one pound and has started frustrating me. I knew the plateaus would come, Im just curious about how long to expect it to last? I had lost 54lbs since surgery and thats pretty much where I am today. I have increased my fluid intake and my excersise as well as protein. Any advice??
A plateau is when you do not lose pounds or inches for four weeks or longer. Its completely normal to have a week (or weeks) where the scale goes up and down or doest move. If you lost a lot in the first few weeks your body could be taking time to adjust to all the major changes. I would check your inches and see if there have been changes there... are your clothes fitting differently... are you seeing changes? My only advice is to be patient and the scale will move again.
Congratulations!!!! wow 54 pounds!!
Yes, our bodies are smarter than we give them credit for. Your body doesn't know you aren't stranded somewhere and starving. So, it will try and hold onto some weight but it won't be able to for long. Just relax and enjoy the ride.
Good luck on your journey. Word of advise - the scale has been known to be "evil" at times. I got caught up with that too and had to put it away so I could only weigh once a week then bi-monthly.
