Whose from the Cary or Raleigh Area

I live in Rocky Mount NC and will be having my surgery with Dr. Enoch's. I have started going to the support meetings in Cary NC. I would love to get to know someone in the Cary/Raleigh area that we can call each other for support. The online forum is wonderful, but having a personal contact is always better.

I am also from Rocky Mount, NC. I filed for insurance approval this week. My surgeon is Dr Ken Mitchell. He has a support group in Raleigh once a month and there is also one in Greenville, Nc every 3rd Thursday,I think. Please ccontact me Alane

Kristen, I saw your posting today and wanted to say hello. I am also in the pre-op phase with Dr. Mitchell and live in Raleigh. I am having some issues with Dr. Weiner. Any suggestions?

Hi ladies. I have gone through all the tests and I'm one month into a 3 month supervised weight loss program. Dr. Moran is my surgeon in Raleigh, NC . He does all his surgeries at Franklin Regional. I agree that personal support is the best. Can I add you both to my friends list? Jennifer

Ok. This is pretty cool. We have Eve and myself who are still going through testing, Debra that is two weeks out and Alane that just got approval. We have a good group. I saw that Eve is looking into lapband. How about everyone else? I have to do RNY due to insurance. Jennifer

Hi Ladies! I live in Youngsville (between Franklinton&Wake Forest). I'm going to Dr.Moran's WLS seminar today, I'll let you know how that goes!

Went to Dr. Moran's seminar this evening with my hubby. I think Dr. Moran and his staff were great with their presentation, they took the time to answer everyone's questions and concerns. After I got home I looked through some of my ins. policy info and it says it COVERS WLS!!! Yeh, now I just need to call them tomorrow to see if there are any stipulations, I believe someone mentioned that they couldn't get the Lap and had to do the more invasive surgery. Now, I think my next possible hurtle will be my BMI, it's 37/38 (the "grey area") I hope this wont put the kabash on things! In any event I will be up bright and early calling ins. and then Dr. Moran's office to set up my inital consult! YEH, I'm so happy!

WOW, Thanks for all the responses. I would love to have to add all of you to my friends list. It's great to know there are others close by that hopefully I can turn to as I get closer to a surgery date. I am looking into the Lap Band, but I have been told that due to my BMI I may have to do the RNY because that may be the only procedure the insurance company will approve. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Over the past month I have been retaining alot of fluid and have gained 7 pounds because of this. Any suggestions on what to do?

I live in Raleigh and am going through Duke for WLS. Not sure which procedure I will have yet. I'm still exploring/considering the options. Barb
