Hi Nancy,
Sorry but don't go by my experience as far as booking lag times. When I was approved a week or so ago there were still open dates in April. However I have a trip scheduled next week and another the week of May 21st that I did not want to cancel. The 29th of May was the first possible date after the second trip and it was open so I took it. Best wishes for your surgery.

I am also new here, but love to read the posts. I am worried about dining out after surgery and found the post replies are often very informatative. I do not have a date for surgery yet, as I meet with Dr. Cooke on the 2nd of May for H&P, then go from there. I did complete all the necessary testing and carefully gathered my paperwork
( whew)! I will hopefully have surgery at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.
I had a scare when I had a mammogramhe very last test I did,I had some microcalcifications that tested out to be atypical hyperplasia so I underwent a surgical biopsy on Friday the 13th. I get the results on Wed. They sugessted I take Tamoxifin for 5 years as a preventive measure, but I am still researching the pros and cons of that.I will see what this biopsy holds first ,then discuss it with a specialist. I am lucky they found it so I caould have the calcifications removed. I thank my God for that.
Thanks to you all I feel like I have a new family on line. I would appreciate your prayers and please visit my surgery page for support when I get to that point. It looks bad on my profile, I only have one friend, she is wonderful, but I welcome more!!

Lynn- please know that you always have friends/love/encouragement here! I am grateful that your screening mammo was done and prayer for great results. Keep us posted on that issue and when you get a date. I am only 8 weeks post-op, but it appears to be the best decision I have ever made! It's such a comfort with each lost pound to think- gone forever! No more yoyo'ing!
I wish both you and Rob a heartfelt welcome and come often!

Well the surgical biopsy found no malignacy.THANKS BE TO GOD! I am so excited now to focus on the WLS . I can't wait, however I am a little scared! Actually a lot scared. I am afraid of being sick all the time. I started out going to Concord, but my PCP wanted me to go to Hickory weight Loss so I did. They are fabulous.I am two weeks off carbonated drinks and down to one glass of unsweeted tea a day. I am starting to walk a little and taking the one a day vitamin and Biotin for hair loss. I will get a vitamin B12 shot tomorrow as well as a Cortizone for Achilliis Tendonitus in my left heel. Ouch they sure do hurt, but they help! I am so happy you have a dat. Who is your insurance with and how long did you have to wait to hear? My husband and I are going out to remove a tree that fell on our house the other night, so I will go be the helper?!* Keep in touch!

HI Rob,
I'm also new to the site. I was approved on April 4th and just got my surgery scheduled last Wednesday with Dr. Bauman. I'm scheduled for May 17th. I also had some work commitments. I would have loved to have taken an earlier slot, but I try to be easy to get along with at work. It seems as if the next 30 something days are going to drag by. I think every possible worst case scenerio has run through my mind. It's a relief that I was approved, but I feel like it's all surreal and something is going to happen and my insurance is going to say "nevermind". I can't believe it's actually happening.
Good luck with everything. I've found this forum to be very supportive and I've only made one post.
