Hello out there! Has anyone experienced gaining weight back at 19 months post op? I have been doing things as usual I joined curves. My starting weight was 277. I weighed at the Dr. office in Nov 06 and weighed in at 158. I went back Apr2 07 and weigh 162.5. What am I doing wrong. He told me to up my excersise, which I have but I have also started in on sweets. I just crave sweets all the time. How many grams of sugar is to much. I am down from a size 24 to 8-12 any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Henrietta

Hi Henrietta, Those sweets will get you every time. Try eating fruits. They will satisfy your need for sugar and help keep you off of that bad stuff. Follow your doctor's orders and spend an extra day or 2 at Curves. Blessings, Diane

Hi Diane!!!! It's been a long time since I have posted. Thanks for the advice, I believe that carbs are what's making me so hungry and craving sweets. Keep up the good work!!!!!

Keep in mind its normal to gain back around 10% of your total loss... a lot of people hit a low point then go back up the 10%. If you feel like you are gaining because of your habits go back to basics... log what you are eating and your exercise. I dont know how much sugar is too much because I wasnt given a sugar goal... if you are eating sweets they are typically high in carbs and calories (depedning on what you are eating) so just keep track of them with your diet to see if thats putting you over the edge. I was never big on sweets pre-op but found Ive gotten a sweet tooth post-op... its crazy... its mostly around that time of the month thou What I will do is go to places with the candy bins and put together a small baggie of a few pieces of different candies... so I end up eating less than whats in a normal bag of candy and I can choose some things that are "better" (pretzles, nuts, pnut butter). I find the small amount will satisify the craving, especially if I enjoy. I also buy those chewable calciums in carmel... its like a candy treat when I have one

Hi, Jennifer I hate to think of gaining weight back so early. I upped my excercise and I am cutting out my sweets. I haven't had a soda since I had the surgery candy is my weakness. I can tolerate the sugarfree but is is hard to just say no! THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE ADVICE.
