I need Help!!!

I am currently living in Beaufort, SC and I am interested in getting the Gastric By-pass but my only problem is that I'm moving to Jacksonville, NC at the end of May. I wanted to start taking the classes and everything else needed but was told I had to wait until I get to NC. The problem is there is no one around the Jacksonville area that performs this type of surgery. Can anyone tell me if there is someone closer to this area who is really good because I have lots and lots and lots of questions?

Just over 2 hours away is Duke a Center Of Excellents in W L S And there is a motel there Carolina/Duke Inn with very resonable rates discount for WLS I think $59 a night was what i paid in Oct 06

I'm not from that area but jacksonville is nt too far from Greenville, NC and I think they do the Gastric Bypass at Pitt County hospital. You might want to look in to that option too. Pitt is a teaching hospital just like Duke. Carly

if you look on the obesity help, at the top of this page is a place that says in RED: find a bariatric surgeon, just click on there, I think when I did the mapquest thing, fayetteville was about 2 hrs and 28 minutes from you was the closest that i saw, you can also go on www.bariatricedge.com they have a locator there also. Hope this information is helpful in your search.

there's a Dr. Mann and a Dr. Nagiri (I think I spelled that right) in Greenville. I've had friends who have had surgery by both of them and they all liked them. I'm originally from Greenville and that's where my family is. So, I had to decide if I wanted to do the surgery there, or here in Charlotte. I was going to go with Dr. Mann if I did have it in Greenville, but instead I'm having it in Concord with Dr. Bauman. Dr. Mann and Dr. Nagiri are in the same office I think.

Hi Gwenette, I live in Wilmington- there is a general surgeon ( not solely bariatric surgery) named Dr Harris in Wilm. who is supposed to be quite good- he is strict about his patients. I had LapBand 7 weeks ago and used Dr Bauman in Concord- which is a 4 hr drive. Let me know once you have made the move and maybe a couple of us "locals" can get together. There is not currently a support group in Wilm or J'ville- but we can always start one! Good luck and stay in touch, Sheila
