Dr's accepting medicaid question....

OK family, I have a question for you all. I was asked by two ladies in my Independent living class about dr's that accept medicaid for thier surgery. They have no clue how to start and I told them that I would ask on thier behalf. Of course we are in the NC area and are looking for dr's in the Charlotte area. Yes I will also post this on the NC board as well. Thanks for any help that you can give me for them. Take care. Moni

There is no doctors in Charlotte, the closets one is in Hickory NC and they are doctor Cook and doctor Cox at Frye Regional Hospital. they are one of the 4 hospitals that have the Center Of Excellence that is needed for Medicare to pay for it. Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville has the Center of Excellence certificate now as well. I think that makes 5 for the state. Good luck. ~Ellen

I think Dr Voellinger still handles medicaid. He is in Charlotte. There are probably others but I dont know them. He did my surgery and I couldnt be happier with him.

Dr Voellinger @ Southeast Bariatrics accepts medicaid. I will say have them if they haven't already start seeing their PCP for a 6 month supervised diet. That is one that Medicaid does not play with. He will be taking medicare once Presbyterian is giving the COE. Tell them good luck!!!!
