I'M APPROVED! SURGERY APRIL 16TH!!!!!!!
After 2 yrs of fighting with insurance, I got the call last Thursday that I was approved!! No grass growing under my feet, my surgery is April 16th, I am doing this before they change their minds or I chicken out!!! LOL!!! So, tell me, what's it like? How will I feel after it's done? I know how I feel now - SCARED & NERVOUS!!! I am one of those people who is afraid of not waking up from a surgery. I have an 8 yr old son, I can't have that happen. I am doing this for him more than anything, so I have to wake up & do well. I guess the countdown has begun.
Congratulations Gina! You have fought a long hard fight for approval. Scared and nervous are very natural things to be feeling at the moment, but you will be fine. You have done your research, weighed your options, and know the risks. If you didn't think this was right for you, you wouldn't have fought for this for two years. Take this time to prepare yourself mentally and physically. Walk, walk, walk. Try out some protein supplements and see if any of them grab you. Read some of the profiles on here, particularly the long term post-ops, they can be very encouraging. We're rooting for you!
Take care and keep us updated.

Congratulations Gina,
I am haveing my surgery on April 17. I noticed you are in Winston, is Dr. Fernandez doing yours too? I hate you had such a battle to get approval. I didn't start until November 2006 and once my information was submitted, I got approval the next day. I hope you have an easy recovery. Keep us informed.

Gina,
Congratulations! Gosh I so know how your feeling! I was glad to get the surgery done before UHC changed their mind. And I made all my final preparations in case I died! For me, this surgery has been a true walk in the park. I have had so little pain it's incredible. The worst pain I had was the headache I received when I pushed the button on the morphine pump! I must be allergic to it. I am still walking carefully and a little more slowly than I am able. I am very protective of my new tummy! The worst pain I've felt is soreness. It has taken a week to get my strength back. But I feel better than I have in 10 years or more. I am so serious. Best wishes and thank you for your posts. We so enjoy you here~
Blessings,
Diane
Gina,
Congrats! I know how you feel about battling the insurance co. I too am having surgery on the 16th. Dr. Hoxworth in Greensboro is my surgeon and I'll be a Wesley Long Hospital in G'boro. I am so excited and can't wait until next Monday.... I am on my 2 wk pre-op diet and trying my BEST to be good. It has been so tempting to cheat. I too have an 8 yr. old son who is so active and I can't wait to have more energy to play with him. Good luck and keep me posted.
