yesterday's visits

Thank you for your support and well wishes Diane. Yesterday was very busy. I saw the endrocrinologist at 8:20 am...no surprises there, my pcp is an Endocrinologist. Dr. O'Connel just asked a bunch of questions and checked over my drugs and blood sugars. Then at 12:00 I saw Karen and Dr. Overby. The meeting with that office was very informative! if you never read one thing about WLS and went there for your visit you would have left fully informed in the procedure, what the risks are, what the rewards are, and what steps are next. It was a good appointment. Dr. Overby took his time with us and answered all of our questions in layman's terms so that we understood everything (part of my education session I was in with another patient). Then we got to meet with him individually. He was great! So, now I wait for the insurance company to approve ( I refuse to even think about denial! ). Karen said that she will get the packet off of her desk and into the hands of the insurance expert at the hospital so there is no telling when it will actually get to Tricare for their consideration. I am so ready for this! Dr. Overby said that once you see Dr. Farrell it usually happens within a week or so. Of course Dr. Farrell is out of town for most of April but that should work out okay becuase of the insurance approval step. All in all I am hoping for May sometime. Am I rambling? I am aren't I? It's just that with each step I am getting closer to that loser's bench! I'm getting so very excited and am still very very impatient.

You are getting close. I have my apts. schedule through April & May. No, you aren't rambling. You know what? I am the same way. This is a very exciting thing that is about to happen to us. This is all I talk about. I know my friends & family are tired of hearing it. I just feel like the more I talk about it the realer it seems. I often find myself writing in my blog and before I know it I have writen a long blog. I just delete it. I feel like I bore people, but I am so excited. OK I will shut up now! hahahahahha Anyway good luck and keep us posted. Stacy

Sounds like everything is going really well Ethel. We're rooting for you! I hope you hear from them very soon. It seemed to me that the waiting was the worst. Use this time to do what you can to get yourself into as good a shape as possible. Walk, walk, walk! It will definitely make the recovery better. Take care. ~Ellen

Ethel, It is so good to hear from you! It won't be long now, that's all I have to say. UNC Chapel Hill is very good. They know what each individual insurance company requires and they make sure all of that is in the packet before it goes off. I know I have an appt. with Dr. Farrell on April 23rd, so hopefully I will see you that day! Dr. Farrell is the very best. I will sing his praises until the day I die! I'm serious. You could not be in better hands. Please remember that I am here for you every step of the way. Can't wait until we can go to a restaurant for lunch and split the meal! Haha! We can have the best time and talks! I'm as excited as you are! Keep well my friend! Many many blessings, Diane

Ethel - Re: rambling. We all want to know about each other's experiences ... I think it helps those who haven't crossed the path you are on at the moment get a better idea of what to expect. I'm so glad hear things are going well for you. I was thinking of you yesterday when I was in Kernersville. Please do stay in touch and let us know how your journey is progressing. So thanks for "rambling" and please continue do so. Warm regards, Barb
