I had my surgery done by Dr.Moran and to me he is the greatest. I would and have recommended him to several people that are thinking about WLS. He has a great staff and if you call them with questions they will call you back. They got all my FMLA and Short Term disability forms done quick. I also was concerned about the hospital but I can honestly say the care that I got was way better than any care that I have received from the larger hospitals in Raleigh. I had surgery on 2/15 and I have lost 35 lbs and I had my first labwork done last Thursday (5 weeks post opt) and I am truly blessed with the opportunity to have WLS. Before surgery I was taking 2 insulin a day, Vytorin (cholesterol med), Norvasc (blood pressure), Actos (diabetes) and Glucophage (diabetes). I stopped all medicines the day BEFORE surgery and I have not had any medicine since and my labs are remarkable. before surgery Cholesterol 300 Fasting blood suger level 500 Hemoglobin A1c 11.0 after surgery 130 145 7.4 If you are looking to get healthy the surgery works!!!!!

I have seen Dr Moran, I'm not banded yet(Lap Band) but I'm on my final stages of pre-op. I think he is great, and his staff. I have complete confidence in him. Hope this helps =0)

Hi Sarah. Thanks for writing. I wanted to do the band and still kinda do but insurance will only pay for RNY so Dr. Moran is ok with either. Since posting the question I have had lots of praise for him. I feel more confident but I am scared that the RNY will make me lose too fast and I'll have all this saggy skin. I am also fighting with telling my judgemental co-workers about the surgery. I know they will know but I just hate admitting it to them. Is that silly? Anyway, thanks for responding and I hope you get banded soon. May I add you to my friends list to keep track of your progress? Jennifer

Jennifer, If you feel stressed about telling your co-workers...don't tell them. A few years ago I was approved for the RNY and I told my friends and family. I had so many opinions good and bad, I stayed stressed out or was always explaining myself and my decision. My DH soon switched jobs and insurance, so I didn't have the procedure done. This time with the band, I have only told my DH and my Mother this past weekend. It has been great!!! I have been so at ease, and not dealing with everyone else's issues about the surgery has helped me to stay focused. After it is all said and done...I will tell if it comes up...I'm not ashamed......but I'll leave it alone till then. Best of luck to you...keep me posted about your progress. =0)
