Dr. Joseph Moran??

Has anyone had surgery by Dr. Moran? He is in Raleigh but does all surgeries at Franklin Regional hospital. Katt9

Yes I have. He is the greatest. You see him from Day 1. He takes as much time as you need to answer all of your questions. I had my surgery on March 1. I did have it at Franklin Regional. They did a great job from Pre-op to post-op. It is a older hospital but I got the best care there. Dr. Morans nurse is wonderful. Her name is Janell, she always would call me back with any questions I had. She will even give you her e-mail address and will respond. Dr. Moran did a great job. I had no pain at all except gas pain but on the 1st day after my surgery when I could get up to walk that went away. I am so glad I met Dr. Moran. He was recommended by 2 other people in my church who had him. You will get great care by him and his staff.

Thanks so much. I had a consult with him and he seemed straight-forward but maybe a little bored. ??? I know that doesn't mean he's not a great surgeon so that's why I asked. How long has it been since your surgery? Are you doing well? Thanks for responding.. Katt9

I am doing wonderful. Had my surgery March 1, and have lost 30 lbs. No pain, vomiting, nausea or dumping. I was only out of work for 1 week after surgery. I am off of my diabetic medications, Lipitor and only 1/2 of my blood pressure medication. Let me know if I can help in any way. Let me know when your surgery is. Debra

Debra, That is so great to hear that you are doing so well. How are you doing with the liquids? Are you starving? I don't have a date yet. I saw the nutrionist today. I have to do the supervised diet thru my doc. for 3 months. I just started Monday. I hope in June or July. Did you tell people at work? Jennifer

No I did not tell anyone at work except my nurse. Dr. Moran wrote on my LOA papers that I was having abdominal surgery. I am way past my liquid diet. I am on mechanical soft right now. Clear liquids the first week, then full liquid for a week, then pureed, now mechanical soft. I am doing great. No dumping, nausea or vomiting. Not hungry at all. Debra

At first in the seminar it seemed like he was monotone just reading from the slides. I think it's because he's probably done these a thousand times. I do like the fact that he does them himself. He seems very knowledgeable when talking to him one on one. He grew on me. He is a big man. Not fat but tall and big. I think he may be a little intimidating at first but that faded quickly. I feel confident about the surgery.
