I went to see Dr. Lowe for my 9 month check up and I have offically lost 144 lbs!!!! Wha Hoo!! He was very pleased with my progress and told me to continue on the High Protien/low Carb diet. He said that was the way to live the rest of my life. I was mostly pleased with my lab work because my potassium level was good and I had such a struggle with that in the begining. So anyway..just thought I would share. Shannon

Wow Shannon 144 lbs is fantastic! You must be feeling great! Are you at goal yet? I'm reading alot lately about people hitting long plateaus. Did that plague you during this past nine months. If so maybe you can shed some light on how you got past them. Again, congratulations on the 144 lbs gone. E

Hi Ethel, I am feeling great as a matter of fact. As for goal, well I have already met my surgeons goal which is the loss of 70-80% of your excess weight in 18 months. I am there in 9 months. My personal goal was 170 because I felt as if I said anything less than was unrealistic goal. So when I in to see him he said it was more than realistic to get to 140 so that would be an additonal 50lbs from where I am now. That seems like I can get there now but I already feel so much smaller that may be more than I want to lose. I did hit plateaus but my longest was only about a month. It took me that long to break past 200. I stayed at 204 for weeks. The only thing I did different was really concentrate on how much I was eating and made sure I was really eating more often than I should because I can't break the habit of drinking while eating so I put special effort into making sure I don't graze. I also eat very high protien/low carb all the time so I just stayed on course and the scale would more again when my body was ready. But it can be frustrating. Shannon
