Hi all!! Okay so I am 5 weeks post op and am eating soft foods now. I am also starting to discover what happens when I eat too fast or too much. I am getting so frustrated b/c I was not expecting all of this.... I want to be able to eat semi-normally again. Will I be able to eat ice cream? have a slice of pizza? or did I sign those rights away after I had the surgery? I just need some encouragement... Thanks, Anya

Hey Anya, I can't keep up with the dates, are we 4 or 5 weeks. I know that tomorrow is our 1 month anniversary. It doesn't even matter because I have decided to just do liquids for the rest of my life. I am having the same problem, I am eating to fast and I THROW UP EVERYTHING. The protein shakes are getting to me and I am having a hard time getting in my protein and water in every day. Are you able to get everything in each day? We are going to get through this and then we are going to look back and say "it was all worth it" and I am a much healthier person. Girl, we just have to keep the faith in CHRIST. If you need anything just drop me a message. Great big hug, Amy

Hi Amy, My names KathyS and i hear what you girls are saying. Im just into my 7th week and ive had my share of problems along the way. Believe me! Ive thrown up around five different times either from something i tried or by eating too fast or too much. Its a horrible feeling i know. At times i get kind of discouraged. I tried three or four different protein powders and hated them. they were either too sweet or just plain gross tasting. I have a terrible time trying to get all my water and protein in. Havent made it yet. I finally tried this protein powder, someone recommended to me. its at Unjury.com its chocolate flavor and it tastes so good! Just like regular chocolate milk. No nast aftertaste. It has 20 grams of protein a serving. I just use two scoops in 8 oz. of 2% milk and blend it and put 2 ice cubes in it and put it in the freezer just for a bit and take it out and drink it. Its so good. Try it. Hope this helps some. KathyS

My Sister had RNY 3 years ago. Yes she eats pizza, and a little icecream. So no you didn't sign those rights away, even though it feels like it.. Unlike you, I've not had my surgery yet, but I was told that I might want to set a kitchen timer for at least 1 o r2 minutesevery time i put something in my mouth, that way it slows me down and not eat so fast. Not sure if it would help, but it might. Any way BIG hugs and keep up the good work!!!

hello ladies,,, from a old timer --- IT will get better, just hang in there. You must learn to sip slowly and nibble ONLY, even at a year out I must be careful not to eat too fast. YES you will be able to nibble on pizza ( LATER **** cream --- makes me sick if I eat more than a spoon full... will this new life be a big issue? NO, you will get used to the New Way you feed your body. It is hard , I know , just keep the faith First in The Lord and second in the calendar where you write down your weight. You will learn how to " Eat to Live " and not " Live to Eat " take care

Its hard to say what you will or wont be able to eat. You can try eating whatever you want eventually... you will find some stuff wont agree with you... the biggest thing I found post op is not wanting to eat those things. I eat pizza like no tomorrow... I could eat it every day!!! I make it a lot at home or eat NYStyle/Thin crust... I stay away from the ones that have too much dough. I can eat a little ice cream now and then... I find I dont feel that great after... I dont dump or throw-up just feel kind of bleh. I like to eat the SF ice pops, SF fudgecicles, SF creamcicles instead of icecream.

Hi Anya, Dont you worry girl, before you know it you too will be eatig pizza again. I am 2 months out and I have pizza once in awhile but usually I have the thin crust because all that bread is not good. I also have SF ice cream when I feel the urge for it, but sometimes I have it and I feel yukky afterwards like it wasnt really worth it. I guess you learn more and more as you go along on your journey on what will and will not agree with your pouch. Just do like everyone on here says and you will do fine. Keep up the good work and good luck to you. Denise

Hey, it is really nice to talk to someone who had their sugery by Dr. Moran, don't ya just love him and his staff. I was told that some people are never able to eat regular ice cream again, and some can. It depends on each persons individual tolerance. But remember, unhealthy lifestyle food habits is what got us in this mess to start with. When we took this journey on, it was because of an addiction to food. This surgery is only a tool to give us a jump start. If we pick up those bad habits, the weight will jump back on us. Just keep the faith girl, you can do this, and then you will be glad of the healthy choices you made. Right now, we are still limited to what we can eat, we are still new into this process. Things will get better when our diets change and we can eat more normal foods.
