Hi,
My name Shannon. I live in Iron Station too!! I have 1 child at IS Elementry, 2 at ELMS and 1 at ELH. I had the surgery on June 14, 2006. I have lost 134 lbs. I had a few complications in the first few months but this is the best thing I ever did for myself. I had a scar tissue blockage and very bad potassium problems but I was NOT THE NORM!!! Most people don't have those kinds of problems. I have 30lbs to go until I met my goal. I wish you all the luck in the world and if you have any questions at all you can email me directly and I would be happy to answer.

Isn't that funny. My son is in the 4th grade at IS and my daughter and other son are in the 7th grade at ELMS. Everyone who has the surgery is nervous to start with. That's very normal. I am doing great these days. I had a rough start but after Dr. Lowe got my labs normal everything has been wonderful. I have more energy than I have had in years and I no longer have high Blood pressure or restless leg syndrome. I also sleep all night which I haven't done in years. I stick strictly to a low carb/high protein diet and I really don't have carb cravings at all. I did not use the same surgeon you are but I have a friend who did and she had her surgery at CMC. She loved him and said they have a great bariatic wing at CMC. Before my surgery I had to meet with a nutricianist (sp) and a psyc. evaluation. I had to do a 2 week liquid diet before the surgery. It was bad the first few days but it really got me ready for life after the surgery. I also went back to work after a week. I felt great. My complications occured with I was about 6 weeks out. Would I do it again? YES YES YES!!!! I think it was the best thing I ever did for myself. Feel free to ask me anything.
