Hi Y'all, I am SERIOUSLY getting discouraged here! The doctor I am using in Wilmington has a new bariatric nurse who is NEVER in the office when I need her. I have called atleast 5 times in the past 2 months to speak with her and give her a progress report...I was required to lose 20+ lbs. before initial consult with doctor...and she is NEVER available. I have filled out paperwork 3 TIMES. She is in office on Wednesday & Friday only and every W & F I call she is sick, kid is sick, jury duty, etc. WTF?? (sorry) It's been 2 months now! How am I supposed to get any further in my WL journey if it seems that the one person that can get me in to see the doctor is so non-challant about her job? Others in office are reluctant to help 'cuz that is HER job, exclusively. They will not step on her toes. The way I see it...she represents that doctor and the functioning of his office, and if it is this difficult NOW to speak to anyone who knows what's going on, what will happen if, God forbid, I have difficulty with surgery, etc????? I attended 2 support group meetings...more than required... and was quite confident that the doctor I was speaking with and asking questions to was extremely qualified to do procedure. The non-professionalism of this nurse has me wondering. What would you do now???????? Mary Ann

I would call and ask to speak to the doctor. He's her boss and he needs feedback on his employees. Most doctors are unaware of bad nurses until someone speaks up. Good luck with all this. Ellen

I guess I would show up in person and ask to speak to the doctor. it is harder to ignore you if you are there at their doorstep. If you don't get satisfaction that way then try another surgeon. It doesn't sound like switching doctors would be a delay...you are not getting anywhere with this one. I think that you have a very valid concern. If they are so unavailable now...what if?

Are you sure this is the Dr for you? I woudl be concerned abut the type pf care you can expect in the future. I had my surgey with Dr Mitchell in Pinehurst, he is one very busy man. However if I leave a message I will get a call from someone. Looks like teh big picture with your Dr is not so clear......
