I thought I was firmly on my way to recovering from the shock of the surgery but not yet. My body is still adjusting. Maybe it was what I ate? Today was the first day of the non clear liquids phase of my diet and I had a little tomato juice. Im feeling weak and drained again like I did a few days ago. I guess Ill wait a while before trying tomato juice again. The first thing I eat when I am able to is going to be some pinto beans. With sliced onions and maybe a little cornbread? Hey a guy can hope cant he?

Pinto beans, sliced onions (and I'm assuming raw here) and cornbread...that sounds painful even BEFORE surgery, I can't even imagine what that meal would do to you AFTER surgery...good luck with that plan.

You may not be able to have the cornbread but Taco Bell's pintos and cheese goes down pretty good.....and has protein.....not to bad of a substitute.. Tina

Hello RM, I hate to tell you this, but it will be a long time before you should try corn bread and raw onion , sorry. But Pinto's and Cheese ( as someone else mention ) is a wonderful thing to try. I remember my first visit to Taco Bell after surgery , I was so excited ,,, took 2 bites and was done, then I cried , I just knew my life was over Take it slow on the tomatoe juice , it is not really a good choice for you, stick with clear liquids without so much sugar. Remember as long as you give your body that type of sugar , you will crave it. Try some cottage cheese, sugar free jello, it will help you and make you feel better.

I found that acidic foods, like tomatos, bothered my pouch (and sometimes still do!). For whatever reason I can eat raw tomatoes... sketti sauce on pizza (I dont eat sketti sauce on sketti I like garlic n olive oil) fresh salsa is fine but canned/jar salsa bothers the heck out of my pouch!! You may also want to watch out for citrus stuff like OJ... I can drink it now (8 months out) but pour it over a huge glass of ice
